UPDATE: I got a leaky pillowUpdate: after losing mine on an airplane (twice), my third order of this is defective. It leaks air and deflated within about ten minutes of being inflated. Super bummed. It says it has a lifetime guarantee but I can t fond a way to contact anyone about getting it replaced. Can someone please help??This thing is awesome. I travel a TON and always need more lumbar support, and this is perfect. It rolls up to an easily-portable size too. I get a lot of people asking me about it because it's such a great idea and airplane seats really offer no support.It's about the width of a regular plane seat (not too big for regional jet seats either), so it works just fine for me. I also occasionally sleep on tour buses, and use this between my knees to keep my hips aligned. I've more than gotten my money's worth and would absolutely buy this again and would recommend it to anyone!! 1Perfect sizeI have used a lot of pillows over the years when I fly. Airplane seats have no lumbar support. One problem that the non-inflatable ones have is you can't adjust the thickness. Depending on the plane and what class you are sitting in, it may be too think or too thin. This one is fully adjustable via the valve. More importantly, it is a perfect size. It distributes the load across a wide area where many others are too small and cause pain in the center of your back. Easy to inflate, easy to deflate and roll up - this pillow has made flying less painful for me. I chose the bright blue because I am more likely to see it when I am deplaning. I have left a few on the plane when they are dark and blend in to the seat. 5Truly a backsaver.A lifesaver for my recent 11 hour flights and busy travel days. With a herniated disc and 2 bulging discs, this travel posed an enormous challenge. But a little extra inflation, the Pal gave me firm lumbar support on planes and in hard chairs. I left the cute sack at home and rolled the Pal up extra tight, being sure to close the valve. It easily fit in my large purse. 5I back this product.I herniated a disc last year and have started sitting with lumbar support most of the time, which has made a big difference. I purchased this pillow for some work related travel I was doing, and it made me flight a lot more comfortable. Best part is that it rolls up in to a small bag which barely takes up any space in your backpack or travel bag. It's easy to inflate, deflate, and store away until next time. Great product! 5Fabulous lumbar support while on the goThis self-inflating pillow is comfortable, durable, and inflates readily. It is is light, quite packable, and gives great support. The valve for the air inflation seems durable, too. I like that it comes in different colors--I got red because I've been known to leave such pillows in the rental car or plane, and red is a more "See Me!" color--and has its own cover case. It packs up tightly, as well--more tightly than any of the (multiple) lumbar support pillows I've owned. And a lifetime warranty. What's not to love? 5Looking forward to using this pillow on international flights. I bought this travel pillow in preparation for some traveling international flights next month. I suffer from sciatic nerve pain on occasion and long flights can cause it to flair back up. The self-inflation works very well, and the pillow automatically expands to about 1.5 inches or so. I know other customers have expressed concern or disappointment with the thickness in their reviews, but I found it to be perfect for me. I tested it out in a computer chair (see photos) when it was fully blown up and then adjusted it using the valve to find the firmness that most comfortable. Although this is not the memory foam version, there is some kind of cushion inside the pillow. It provides good support and you don't feel like you are just sitting against a bag of air.Ultimately, I decided to go with Travel Pal because of three features: the nice wee storage pouch, the wraparound strap attached to the pillow, and the color choices. I'm really please with it and think I made the right decision to purchase this over another well-reviewed brand. It was a bit of a struggle to choose between the two brands because neither one had customer photos or videos showing what the pillow actually looks like and how it performs when it reaches us... So I've included some photos and a video for anyone else who might be struggling to make a decision. :) 5Small and handyThis deflates rolls up into a nice little bag that you can store in your purse. I mostly happy with it, though the fabric is a little on the slippery side, so if I lean forward in a theater seat, it might slip between the foldup seat and the back. But overall it s a find little pillow. 4Fantastic product!!I started making a long commute for work about two years ago but only within the last three months or so did this start to impact my lower back. I utilise a company shuttle service but the seats in the vehicle are not the most comfortable especially for a long drive. I decided to look on Amazon for something that could provide support for my back while on the shuttle. I've been using this product about one month now and its worked exactly as I had hoped. I think its really saving my lower back!! 5Very nice travel pillow but needs design improvement for lumbar supportI really like the concept of this travel pillow and was hoping to use it for air and car/train travel. It inflated initially very easily. (Instructions state give 1 initial breath upon opening). The valve worked very well to hold in the air or open up and let some out. It rolled back into place, was able to secure the strap and place easily into the included storage bag and appeared to be manufactured very well.Unfortunately, for me this pillow is too tall and flat to fit well in the curve of my back for support and relief of pain. For someone that does not have any back issues and just wants a little cushion for support for sitting in hard chairs and bleachers, etc., this would likely work well. I would try to purchase again if a new version is created that is only about 5-6 inches high that has a depth of about 3 inches in the center and decreases out to the edges to about 1 inch (somewhat of a half moon shape). 3Same experience as Therm-A-Rest lumbar pillowI lost my Therm-A-Rest Lumbar pillow and needed to replace it. The Therm-A-Rest brand came in blue or purple but was out of stock on purple. So I thought I'd give this one a try. I like that is has a strap with a snap to keep it small when packing. And the travel pouch will keep it cleaner during travel. The performance for providing back support on plane rides was the same. My first trip with the Red Travel Pack was from US to UK and the lumbar pillow provided excellent support for each eight hour flight. It self inflates, but I find after take off I have to let a little air out due to cabin pressure change. I store it unrolled with the valve open in my carry-on suitcase. I roll it up just before leaving for the airport. The airplane seats have been getting worse and worse, but this back support pillow makes the ride better and less trips to the chiropractor.
