This IS what the restaurants use! Here's my recipe. It comes out extra potent and extra sweet, and is meant to be slightly further diluted with water, skim milk, or coconut/almond milk upon serving. Caution: This product contains lots of yellow dye, and it STAINS. Don't let the dry mix get on your clothes, carpet, fabrics, etc.into medium pot:boil 6 cups wateradd 1 cup thai tea mixgently boil UNcovered at medium heat for 30-40 minutes, stir periodically. Uncovered boiling will evaporate ~2 cups of water in 30-40 minutes....strain into large blender container through a tea filter/sock Thai Tea Filter Stainless Steel, Tested & Proven Best Tea, Traditional Thai Style, Muslin Cotton Strainer Sock 2 Pack by Fartrade Outlet,we want to get about 3 cups of very concentrated tea....into blender:add 1 can (14oz) sweetened condensed milkadd 1 cup half & halfgently blend the mixture until smoothly coloredchillserve over ice and dilute to taste with water, milk, soy/almond/coconut, etc.5The BEST Thai Tea MixThis is the best Thai tea mix. I just had to buy a new bag after having lost my old bag after a remodel. I love knowing I can have a glass of Thai tea any time I want without having to drive to the nearest Thai restaurant and paying 4 bucks plus. I make mine in an electric pressure cooker which really speeds up the process and brings out all the flavor making for an awesome drink. It's worth buying a pressure cooker just to make your Thai tea in. You can get one for as little as $88 here on Amazon. I have this one and it's the best cooking item I've ever owned. Instant Pot IP-LUX60 6-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker, 6-Quart 1000-Watt http://www.amazon.com/Instant-Pot-IP-LUX60-Programmable-1000-Watt/dp/B0073GIN08/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1458781580&sr=1-2&keywords=electric+pressure+cookerThe way I make it:2 cups of dry Thai tea mix8 cups (2 quarts) water1 to 2 cups sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)Cook in pressure cooker 10 minutes then strain the tea into a pitcher using a fine strainer. Once completely strained, add sugar while still warm and mix well. Add whole cream, half and half, or milk to taste. If you'd rather go dairy free, add coconut cream, coconut milk, almond milk, or soy milk to taste. For me the creamier the better.5Cancer causing labelJust arrived and I am saddened to find this warning label that the product may cause cancer and birth defects. I wish this was in the product description or somewhere more prominent.1Happy camperFinally got it right! I looove thai tea and was going broke buying two daily. I am so glad i bought this. After trying several times, I got it down. I was missing condensed milk. My local thai tea spot (favorite spot) adds mocha mix. Sooo of course I went ahead and grabbed some of that. And now, i am very happy.5LOVE this teaLOVE this tea!!!! I craved Thai iced tea while I was pregnant SO much and could never find it in the stores to make at home. One night when I was out at our usual Thai spot ordering the usual 4 Thai teas, haha, our waitress made a comment that I must really love it and she would give me their recipe! Sweet! She recommended I can buy the tea on Amazon and this is the exact brand they use in the restaurants. I'm not pregnant anymore but still make this at home all the time because it's that awesome! Comes out just like they make it at the restaurant!5Authentic taste and flavor!I would give this product 100 stars if I could. We used to get Thai tea in restaurants when we lived in Asia. Since we moved back to America we have been looking for something similar. This tea mix tastes EXACTLY like the tea we had in Asia. The whole family raves about it. We followed the recipe of another reviewer (Boil 4 cups of water and then add 1 cup of Thai tea mix. Next add 3/4 cup of sugar and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and cover for 30 minutes. Fill a glass full of ice and then pour the tea halfway up the glass. In a sepeerate container combine a tablespoon of condensed milk along with one cup of half and half and stir well. Pour over tea and enjoy.).5Same stuff they use in the restaurant - just make it right!I have tried for ages to make the right tea with this stuff, and I couldn't get it right. I even blew through the first bag, always disappointed. Then I asked the local restaurants, and it's the EXACT SAME mix they use. However, my teas were always too weak! Then I had a friend as my waiter one night by chance, and he told me they boil the mixture down. So that's the trick. To make the same quality tea as the restaurants, put a bunch of mix in with a large pot of water, and boil it until it's concentrated a bit. Then filter and store it in the fridge, and you can have it whenever you want! For mixing, I use sweetened condensed milk whisked together with just a bit of half and half to give it a better consistency for mixing. Together with the concentrated tea, it's a fantastic drink, exactly like at the restaurant! Yes, when you boil down the tea this way, it will be more bitter. But I noticed that by the time I added enough sweetened condensed milk to make it as sweet as the restaurant stuff, the color was the same as the tea they serve anyway, so I'm pretty sure it's right.Awesome tea, will buy again.5I don't know what people in Thailand drink, but this is what they serve at Thai restaurants. This is the real deal, what just about every Thai restaurant serves for Thai Iced Tea. There are lots of suggestions in other reviews for tweaking the "recipe" and it took me a few tries to get it right ("right" as in duplicating what I personally prefer). For me the secret is - lots of sugar, which I mix in while the tea is still hot. Then it goes in a container in the fridge. When I want to drink some, I put lots of ice cubes in a glass - pour the tea in, then top with half n half. Note, if you pour cold cream over hot tea, they will mix together (as in the attached photo). If you have some tea already chilled in the fridge, the cream will stay on the top when poured over the tea slowly - just like it does at the restaurant.I have no idea how many calories or how much caffeine is in a single glass of this stuff, but it's probably best that I never find out.5No more paying $3 for one glass of Thai Ice Tea!Tastes just like what you get at the restaurants!!!I found this when I searched for Thai Ice Tea recipes online and they recommended this one. Here's the recipe if you're interested. It's soooooo good!Ingredients:1 cup (80g) Pantai Thai Tea Mix or 4 Black Tea bags4 cups (950ml) Water3/4 cup (150g) Sugarhalf and half (some folks also use coconut milk, whole milk, sweetened condensed milk)iceDirections:Bring water to boil and add the thai tea mix or the 4 black tea bags.Add sugar and gently stir to completely dissolve sugar.Gently boil tea for about 3 minutes.Remove from heat.Allow tea to steep for at least 30 minutes and allow it to cool. The more concentrated the tea flavor, the better the Thai tea tastes. If you are using the Thai tea mix, strain the tea leaves. Set finished Thai tea aside to cool.If you are using black tea bags, remove the tea bags and set aside finished Thai tea to cool. You can make this ahead of time and have the Thai tea chilling in the fridge.Assembly directionsFill glasses with ice.Fill glass with about 3/4 full of the Thai tea mix. Then top off remainder of glass with half and half.Stir and enjoy.Source: [...]5Great tea!!!I love the thai ice tea served in restaurants but it can be expensive. I wanted to figure out a way to make it at home for 1/4 of the price. This tea is exactly what is served in Thai restaurants. I boil 8 cups of water and use 1 cup of the tea steeped for about 15 minutes. Then I add 1.5 cups sugar to the mix while it is still warm. Cool and enjoy. I also put a little bit of half and half on top after I pour a glass. Gives it that nice creamy, sweet flavor.5came with sticker on back that says known to contain ...came with sticker on back that says known to contain chemicals that can cause cancer and birth defects! now i can't return it either! lost money and won't be using it.1Thai Tea EVERY Day!!YUMMY!! I love getting Thai tea, but dread all of the sugar that's normally put in it. Plus, I'm allergic to dairy. Now I can make own very quickly and sweeten it with pure stevia powder and a heaping tablespoon of regular sugar (for 4-5 cups.) I also top it off with almond milk. What a great way to get started in the morning without all of the sugar. Just clean up after yourself else you'll get that red dye staining everything it comes in contact with.5Carcinogenic, but no different than your favorite Thai or tea place...Yes, this does say that it's known by the state of California to cause cancer (it comes from the FD & C Yellow No. 6). And that is worrying to me... but I do know that FD & C Yellow No. 6 (AKA: Sunset Yellow, and a whole lot of other names) is used a LOT of places and is exceptionally common. From cakes to candies (like Jolly Rancher) to medicines. It *is* FDA approved, but the sate of California has more strict rules than the FDA. When heated to decomposition, yellow no. 6 emits toxic fumes of nitrogen and sulfur oxides. How much? I'm not sure. What effects does it have on humans? I'm not sure. But it's just an unfortunate truth that almost everything that's made has dyes...HOWEVER... this is the real deal. If you go to a Thai restaurant, or a tea shop, this tastes exactly the same. There may be Thai tea mixes out there that do NOT have the dye, but I haven't tried them. The flavor is amazing and the value is incredible. I do wish that I could find just the camellia sinensis tea, but I've not been able to find that anywhere. This DOES stain, so be careful!! And you have to use a LOT of tea per cup, but man... The taste is amazing.4
