Do NOT purchase if you are looking for INNER BarkPowder consistency is good...but it is NOT inner bark...I know this because I ve consumed other brands of inner bark locally, but wanted to purchase it in bulk ....it taste is different, is darker and it doesn t blend well with water(more granular).... so this is outer bark or a blend... I would Not buy this again...waste of money... 1BOIL ITI have used slippery elm for digestive issues. Just ordered this and it found it smells very strongly of slippery elm so I believe it is what it purports to be. It is ground very fine, like a flour or powder.TIP: Boil it to get the thick slippery texture. I see people just mixing this into shakes and things and that may be ok, but I have always BOILED my slippery elm in water. If you do this you will have no doubt that this is slippery elm as the liquid will get a bit thick from the slippery elm goodness. I put 1 teaspoon of the powder into 2 cups of water in a pot on the stove and boil for at least 2 minutes. If I add to hot water it does not get as thick, if I add to cold water it does not get as thick, but if you boil it for 2 minutes you will see and feel the difference. Boil this stuff then try to put it through the strainer, it is like thin jell-o and will strain through very slowly because of the thick slippery substance that this bark is named from.I am no expert but experience has shown me that you have to boil it to get the thickness and slipperiness you want for your gut. If I were preparing this for an animal I would boil it and store the boiled mixture in a jar and add the liquid to the food. For myself I boil and drink like a warm tea or cool and drink it from the fridge watered down.Addendum: I tried a cold soak (1 teaspoon to 2 cups water in a shaker - let it soak overnight in the fridge) and the mixture did thicken comparable to a boil. If you eat the powder in a shake or with liquid it might thicken inside the stomach, but I think I will continue to boil and drink or soak overnight before ingesting to be sure that the slippery elm goodness is extracted from the powder to be sure I get the full benefit of the slickness. 5Great for healing internally.This slippery elm works great. I've used slippery elm for many years now. Its a great internal lubricator for your esophagus and colon. Anyone and everyone should use this due to everyone is dehydrated these days. However, it helps people with any stomach inflammation or colon inflammation. Also helps rid of acid reflux. Drink some before bed, and you'll be a happy camper! People with any of those problems should use slippery elm.Recipe:1 cup of spring water, bring to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of slippery elm, stir, stir, stir, lower heat to low boil and stir in between while boiling. Let boil for 20 minutes. Move off burner, let cool. Then pour into a mason jar, place lid and drink some each morning and night. *NOTE: I do this recipe in fours. Another words I use 4 cups of spring water, and 4 tbls of slippery elm. Pour into quart jar. Drink every day and night. Its best when its cold.This helps greatly in healing your body! 5Im pretty sure i just paid $30 for a bag of ...This is unlike any slippery elm powder ive used in the past. It has no smell whatsoever. It does not mix well with liquid, the consistency is very lumpy. The paste resembles brown phlegm. Im pretty sure i just paid $30 for a bag of sawdust :(I now understand why the seller does not allow returns. Dont waste your money! 1Expiration dateThere was no expiration date on the package so I have no idea how long it s been on the shelf 1I strongly believe in the heath benefits of this product ...I strongly believe in the heath benefits of this product. I added it to my mother's oatmeal and soups when she was recovering from a bleeding ulcer and jaundice. She ate so little but she ate that and it helped her tremendously.WARNING!. Please be careful => Slippery elm contains a type of soft fiber called mucilage. Mucilage can decrease how much medicine the body absorbs. Taking slippery elm at the same time you take medications by mouth can decrease the effectiveness of your medication. To prevent this interaction take slippery elm at least one hour after medications you take by mouth.This product comes with no instructions on how to use. I would make a small fresh batch everyday. Soak 2 tablespoons of SE in 6 table spoons of water. Let sit an hour and keep in the fridge. Add to oatmeal or juice or soup. 5product is no were near what it was.The product has changed from swb no were near the quality it was before. Very little inner bark if any. 1Taste is terribleDoesn t mix well 1Wrong stuff inside?This review is for my 2nd order - I purchased 1 lb and it worked great. I mix 2 tea spoons SEB with water (add brown sugar) and let it sit few minutes then they get very thick and sticky. However, when I received my 2nd order and used this method to take it...but the second bag SEB doesn t get thick or sticky at all... even after 5 or 10 mins! I doubt if they made mistake for packing. Then double looked at their bag and all labeled as SEB correctly! But this does not like SEB! Please help and I need to know what s wrong. Thanks! 1Inconsistent quality.Crappy quality. Can't use it and can't send it back. Not a happy camper. It looks and smells like SE but is more like dirt when drinking in water. 1
