Customer Reviews

not happyPicture and name of it is misleading. Cheap shoestring like necklace not chewable tube necklace. Only comes with one charm and its not even one in the picture.!!! And the necklace comes apart easy so more in likely well be lost soon :( not happy at all with this and when I called the company ( 4 times now) no one ever answers the phone left message for call back and its been 3 days now and no call back. 1Expensive but suits a purposeI have the same complaints as everyone else..... Wish I could've chosen the shape that we received; a little misleading that you only get one but five are shown; attaching the lanyard would've been hard to figure out if I hadn't read the other reviews. Overall, suits a purpose but my 2 yr old son showed very little interest in it. He has not been officially diagnosed with any sensory processing disorder, he is simply a serial biter, and this didn't work for us, but I'm sure for the right child it would be perfect. 4Misleading picture and overpricedAlthough this product is good for my son's sensory-seeking behavior (chewing), it was way overpriced at $9.99. The picture shows 5 charms; you only receive 1 along with your simple keychain-style "necklace." After receiving it, I looked in the listing to see if it mentioned this and couldn't find it so if it's there, it's well-hidden. I'm a bit disappointed but the product does serve its purpose. 3Great product - small issueThis product is great, I've ordered it twice now in the past year and have been very satisfied both times - However - I've also been lucky enough to receive the same style chew toy both times (the blue cat). It's important to note that many kids with sensory issues have autism and don't cope well with change. These toys can be somewhat hard to find so ordering without knowing which one will be sent to you can be tricky, I just know I would never have heard the end of it if we'd gotten a yellow train instead of a blue cat! (I heaved a great sigh of relief when I opened the package - it's the little things, right?!) I would order again because the item is great (nice size, lanyard with safety clasp, durable) but, like many reviewers before me, feel the seller should include an option to choose which charm is being ordered. 4Barely Use ItMy son's OT therapist recommended chewlry or chewies for my son's oral seeking, so I thought these would be cute. First of all, you get ONE, not the five that are pictured. And you get a random charm - no choice. I thought my son would like the train, but he got the blue round one.He has never used them. They have no texture so they barely satisfy. The cord has "Sensory University" written all over it, so I won't use it. I don't need to "advertise" that he has sensory issues when the point to the chewing charms is to be discrete. The charms MIGHT be useful for older children because they are small enough to hide and chew on without drawing much attention to them, but for my toddler, it's a waste. 1I'm going to look for another product to satisfy his chewing needThis product was not at all what it pictures itself to be! It appears that you are getting all the attachments in the picture( unless I am blind or didn't read closely). Anyway, it only comes with one object and it's WAY thicker than the picture and basically hurts my kids jaw to chew on it. So my child is back to chewing the pencils again. I'm going to look for another product to satisfy his chewing need. 1What you see isn't what you getThe picture shown isn't what I received in the mail. I ordered this item particularly to get the train since my son loves trains. I received one lanyard and one star chew toy. There is no star in the picture. I contacted the seller and asked to be sent the item pictured or to receive instructions for a return and got a reply from the General Manager of The Sensory University stating that the order would not qualify for a return. - I wouldn't order anything from this company.Update - We have had the necklace open for about two weeks and my 7 year old has bitten off two of the pointy ends of the star and broken the plastic latch on the lanyard. .review-image-thumbnail { background-position: center center; background-repeat: no-repeat; overflow: hidden; background-size: cover; height: 160px; width: 235px; } .review-media-gallery-content { height:100%; width:100%; background-color:black; } .reviews-mobile-media-gallery .a-carousel-viewport { margin-left:15px; } .cr-thumbnail-image { float: left; } 1I ordered this for my grandson, and it is ...I ordered this for my grandson, and it is not written anywhere that the 5 charms are not included. Very misleading...I ordered it for the train and recieved a blue soccer ball? ONLY one charm should be specified, although I suppose I should of read the reviews and wouldnt have ordered it, on top of that I should of recieved free shipping and was charged $3.50 but again my error for not checking the free shipping. So I paid way too much for something although my grandson could use I felt cheated with this item in more ways than one! 1Works! Thank goodness...This is one of the best products for my sensory-seeking almost-5 year old! It has saved his sleeves and collars, plus my own sanity.I saw the reviewers that gave it 1 star b/c the lanyard does not fit through the hole. I'll admit this stumped me as well so after staring at our first one for a while, I called the company directly. They said it is not designed to have the clasp go through the hole; rather you poke the loop at the opposite end of the clasp (when closed) through the hole, then thread the clasp through that. After we did that it has NEVER come undone, even in the washing machine, and I am very thrilled with it. So much, I even bought two so I could wash one and have the other available.I would like to be able to choose the charm that is sent, but it's kind of nice to have a surprise, too. I'm glad I read the reviews about only receiving one the first time I ordered. My son likes to chew the charm itself and the lanyard as well. 4Works, but huge room for improvementI have ordered 2 of these in the last month. They work well for my 8 year old son who chews on everything, and have held up to his chewing.HOWEVER, one problem is that it's so large, that it hangs out of his mouth when chewing, and tends to get drooly and gross. Not ideal for a school scenario - or for cleanliness, if he chooses to dry it on his pants, before putting it back into his mouth! I understand not wanting to have smaller items that could be choking hazards, but this just wasn't thought out well. It's disappointing that they only mail one at random (which is listed, but the picture showing 5 is deceptive) - the first we received was the train, and he was too embarrassed to use it at school for fear of it being too baby-ish and causing teasing.I just ordered another (to replace the train), and happily received the soccer ball. Was thrilled to see it, except the clasp of the lanyard doesn't fit through the hole in the charm. It took 20 minutes of jamming with a pair of scissors to get it through, but the hole is just too small for the charm to move smoothly along the lanyard. It's awkward, to say the least. I sent an email to the company and this was their reply:"Please read the instructions on the back of the card as to how install the lanyard. It is not designed to insert through the hole in the charm on any charm we manufacture. This is a safety measure set in place to prevent the sling shot effect. As always thank you for your business."Really? You send me a charm with a hole in it, and a string, and you expect that people aren't going to put the string through the hole?? I fully admit that I didn't read the instructions (and no longer have them, so I'm interested to see what they say) - I didn't know that something so simple required them. Kind of silly if you ask me.****UPDATE: They responded with this clarification: "I will just explain it to you. Simply close the lanyard and insert the loop furthers from the clasps through the hole in the lanyard. Now take the claps and pass it through the loop then pull it tight and flat around the lanyard forming an exposed slip knot. Please advise if you have any further questions." Honestly, that's what I assumed they would mean as an alternate installation procedure, but I really don't see that it's any better than simply putting it through the hole. Not sure what the 'sling shot effect' is, and how this solves any potential problems. Regardless, those are their instructions. ****I also have to say the shoelace-style lanyard is terrible. The clasp, while 'break-away' is so flimsy that it is hard to keep on with any sort of normal 8-yr old use at school. In addition, it is VERY cheap material, and incredibly scratchy - and I can't imagine that kids with sensory issues (who are all likely to purchase this) would want something that scratchy around their neck. My son doesn't. He carries it, but doesn't wear it around his neck, which sort of defeats the purpose.Overall, the charm itself is OK, but I think we're likely to toss the lanyards and keep them in his desk for chewing on as needed. That said, there are certainly other chewies out there that could meet this purpose, for less than 10 bucks. 3
