Customer Reviews

Wife has been taking these for several months; she and baby doing greatMy wife is doing very, very well on these vitamins during her pregnancy. At our most recent prenatal checkup her OB/GYN said, after reviewing the ultrasound results from that day, that we should be thrilled with how great the baby looks at this point. These vitamins are highly bio-available, which is super important when it comes to supplements. All the vitamins/minerals come from natural, whole food sources instead of being synthetic, man-made versions like you see in cheaper/lower-quality vitamins which means the body has a much easier time absorbing and using the nutrients. One of the first things that attracted me to this product is that it contains folate (the bio-available, natural form of Vitamin B-9), instead of folic acid (the synthetic version). This is especially important for women in the very earliest stage of pregnancy, as Vitamin B-9 is what's needed to ensure that the fetus's neural tube develops properly (neural tube defects cause problems like spina bifida).A large percentage of the population has a gene that makes it hard for them to convert folic acid to folate in the body, which can mean women who think they're getting enough B-9 due to the vitamins they take aren't actually getting as much as they need. However, the neural tube has fully formed by about the 6th week of pregnancy, so this is mostly important for women who are attempting to get pregnant or are in the very early stages. My wife only takes half the recommended amount of pills per day - 2 instead of 4. She does this to save money, but also because she tries to eat healthfully and get vitamins through real food as much as possible. She uses these multivitamins as a safeguard against letting herself become deficient in any one vitamin or mineral. Some research shows that multivitamins may not make much of a difference for pregnant women (or for people in general) but we figure the cost of 9 months worth of a high quality prenatal vitamin like this is a small price to pay to help make sure our baby has all the nutrients it needs to develop properly.Obviously no supplement can take the place of a mother working hard to take good care of herself during pregnancy, but more and more evidence is showing how vital nutrition is to our overall health. Taking a high quality prenatal multivitamin is a no-brainer in our minds, and we'd highly recommend this one.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Long Overdue Update - Nov. 2017:Our son was born in September of 2016 after almost exactly 40 weeks of gestation, and was perfectly healthy at just over 7 lbs. My wife breastfed him exclusively for his first year and continued to take these multivitamins and several other supplements (all cleared with her OBGYN before starting) throughout that period, while continuing to completely abstain from alcohol. She did have a cup of coffee most mornings, though, after getting it OK'd by the pediatrician. At his 1 year checkup he was 25th percentile in weight, 75th percentile in height, and 75th percentile in head circumference. His pediatrician says he looks perfect despite the lower percentile in weight. He had what we thought was colic for the first two to three weeks of his life, in that if he wasn't nursing or sleeping he'd be crying loudly. We suspected it could be gas due to the way he would arch his back and squirm while crying, and how he would often settle down somewhat after finally getting some out. After checking with the doctor we gave him some infant probiotic drops every day for about a week. My wife also cut dairy out of her diet for a couple weeks during this time, but it was hard to tell if it made a difference. Sometimes it seemed like it did, and sometimes not. We're not sure what actually helped (maybe he just grew out of it) but shortly afterwards he stopped having those issues. He had problems sleeping at night (he would get super upset if we tried to get him to go to sleep on his own in his crib) up until he was about 10 months old, but that almost definitely due to our inexperience as parents allowing him to form sleep associations with things like being rocked and/or nursed to sleep. Shortly after 10 months something seemed to click for him, and since then he goes to bed super easily and sleeps a solid, uninterrupted 12-13 hours every night.Despite those few hiccups, he's been a super happy little dude and has seemingly never-ending energy and curiosity. He's super observant and learns/picks up on things very quickly, and has a very sweet, unique personality that runs the gamut from mischievous to fussy to loving. As far as common milestones, he started saying "mama" and "dada" (with actual meaning behind them) at about 6.5 months, was crawling around 7 months, and started walking shortly before his first birthday. Now, at almost 15 months, he spends all of his time running (literally, as well as a toddler can at least) around the house investigating anything he can get his hands on, understands and responds to dozens of words/phrases, can say many of them with varying degrees of actual pronunciation, and constantly uses them to try to communicate with people. He has so much energy and drive to explore things that it can be pretty exhausting keeping up with him. He also loves to flip through his books, but often can't sit still long enough for someone to read one to him.Obviously this is all anecdotal (and definitely the ramblings of a smitten first-time dad), and it's pure speculation as to whether anything would be different had my wife not taken these multivitamins during her pregnancy. All I know is that we had an awesome kid who appears to have zero developmental or formative issues, and by all measures seems to be very bright and happy. We feel truly lucky, as we're aware that there are so many ways it could have gone differently. That said, we plan to use the exact same approach to nutrition/supplementation for my wife's next pregnancy (when the time comes) and hope to repeat the results. 5Update: Shattered bottle, can t return (Fantastic prenatal vitamin -- never upsets my stomach!)From 4 stars to 1 star (until I can get a resolution)Update: I ve been ordering these prenatals for about two years now, $34 a month for 24 months is around $800 (and I order their bone renewal, so it gets expensive every month). I received my package today and it was broken with shattered glass and tiny tiny shards. Went to try and return and, of course, you can t return it. The company is closed, so I will try and call them tomorrow, and see if they will help. I ll update my post then.Original review: (wrote in 2016 when pregnant with my first child)Love these prenatals. Although they are a bit pricey, I didn't want to skimp on what I was putting in my body for the baby. I used these prior to conceiving and while pregnant. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is that it doesn't have a calcium component which I supplement with Synergy's Bone Renewal, but it makes it even more expensive and it's a lot of pills to take each day. I'm lucky that I have no problem swallowing pills, so it doesn't bother me. I've never once felt sick on these pills, even during the first trimester. In fact, I tend to notice when I haven't taken them, because I think they actually make me feel better! I did a ton of research before selecting a prenatal vitamin and asked other moms I know what worked for them. I really like the quality of the product and would highly recommend. 1Like these. Started using towards the end of my ...Like these. Started using towards the end of my second pregnancy and still taking while breastfeeding. The only vitamins I swore by before these were USANA which gave me more energy than any other vitamin. These seem to work about the same and I love that it's organic whole food ingredients. I got my pregnant sister to order them too and have recommended their products to multiple friends. I also take the vitamin c powder and b vitamins. Does not upset my stomach and pills are not too big. 4I am a guy! This is an absolutely wonderful product! It's organic and made in the usa. I was so disappointed in Garden of Life when I found out they had heavy metals in their organic raw meal from the b. rice protein that was from China, I made sure the next supplement I put money into will be from the usa.I decided to take purenatal because it's the most complete organic whole food multi on the market for the price. 5After a lot of research this was the best prenatal I found!I started taking this prenatal shortly before I conceived. This is my first pregnancy and I am now 29 weeks pregnant. I rarely had any morning sickness and have felt pretty great my entire pregnancy. I chose this prenatal because of the quality of the ingredients and the fact that there is no folic acid and instead food derived folate;it's also non GMO and organic. My skin is brighter and clearer, all my blood results have been great and my energy levels have been pretty good as well. I've been really pleased with this prenatal and would recommend it to anyone looking for a whole food, clean prenatal. Totally worth the price! 5Pros: - quality ingredients - no unfortunate taste when ...Pros:- quality ingredients- no unfortunate taste when swallowingCons:- you have to take 4 a day!- fairly large pillsIf you don t mind swallowing pills, these are decent prenatals. However if that s an issue for you, I would definitely try a different brand! 3Don't hesitate buy theseI love these prenatal Vitmains and I've taken many different brands. I love that they are whole food, organic and don't upset my stomach. I felt a big difference when I started taking them. I had tons of energy and I felt great. Wish I had known about them my last pregnancy. I've continued to take them whole breast feeding. The price is a little more than I'd want to pay but knowing the difference between these and other pills, I'll continue to pay more for quality 5Good qualityI was looking for a prenatal that had folate as opposed to the synthetic version folic acid. I researched several brands and decided that this one was the best option based on the other ingredients and the price. I take this daily and while I don't notice any significant differences from the vitamins, they don't make me sick either. I can take them with or without food but generally do split the dosage throughout the day. The iron in these is kind of low so I supplement with more but otherwise these have good quality ingredients and everything you need! 5I love these prenatal VitaminsI love these prenatal Vitamins, Decided to give them a try over another brand that I've used in previous pregnancy's and have noticed when I take these, I actually feel a difference in my mood and activity level. I am alot taking with a vitamin D3 supplement, so this may be helpful as well.. Overall, they're great 5Way too bigI'm giving it 3 stars because the tablets are so big I was able to take only one pill and could not swallow any more. Now I have very expensive 118 pills which will go to trash. 3
