They help, but have some downsidesI would not buy again. Though they provide some arch support, there are more effective ones available that cost only slightly more. These can be adjusted via Velcro strap, but can move out of place because it's not an elastic strap. The arch pad is not very thick, providing only modest support - better than nothing. The Velcro contact surfaces are abrasive and exposed, resulting in your socks getting snagged and shredded, along with the interior lining of your shoe. 3skeptical at first but believer after wearing themI tried using thin insols and orthodics in dress shoes due to fallen arches for about 15 years. all of them arre either too thick and thus a poor fit or too thin and provide not enough support. I didn't know these exisited until I tried them on for the first time. I like it. the pain is gone and I don't have to deal with insoles again. and the biggest benefit is the ability to wear proper dress shoe sizes and not having to account for the extra girth of the insoles which is no longer necessary. The only con is the need to adjust the positioning of the supports if you walk for a long time. I typically do that about mid day if I'm wearing them all day. 4Great Success!!! Heel spur relief!I had a painful heel spur for nearly a year. Doctors were no help at all other than to take x-rays and confirm that I did in fact have a nasty spur. After doing my own research, I learned that one of the causes could be from poor arch support - I have very high arches. I looked into different options and came across these arch supports that have pretty much cured the worst of my pain! For the past 6 months or so I've worn them every day with flats, heels, flip flops, boots and sneakers (not with my running shoes that provide me with adequate support as they are). They stay in place mostly though they do need to be readjusted from time to time. The arch supports wear out after about a month and a half to two months of daily use, more so for the velcro than the padding, so I'm on my 3rd pair. Consider that's w LOTS of walking living in nyc. I tried one other brand that didn't work at all. I would say that I started to feel slight relief in the first few days and significant relief after several weeks of repeated use and they have not let me down yet. 5NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALLI'VE HAD THESE ONE DAY AND HATE THEM....THEY AREN'T ELASTICIZED SO IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THEM SNUG ENOUGH THAT THEY STAY IN PLACE....WITH EVERY STEP THEY MOVE OUT OF PLACE...I'VE BEEN TRYING TO KEEP THEM IN PLACE ALL DAY... THE VELCRO IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND PRICKLY........I'D READ THE REVIEWS AND THEY WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE, I SHOULD OF PAID ATTENTION TO THE BAD ONES....I'D RETURN THEM IF IT WEREN'T SO MUCH TROUBLE AND THE SHIPPING BACK WEREN'T SO COSTLY....PLUS, OUR CLOSEST UPS DROP OFF STORE IS 20 MILES AWAY....AND IT COST ALMOST DOUBLE IF THEY PICK IT UP HERE....MAYBE I CAN ALTER THEM AND MAKE THEM WORK OTHERWISE I WASTED MY MONEY YET AGAIN....YOU CAN'T WEAR THESE WITH SHOES BECAUSE THE VELCRO IS SO UNCOMFORTABLE.....I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE...GET THE STRETCHY ONES INSTEAD.... 1Mighty Expensive Cat ToysI suffer from plantar fasciitis; I allowed the condition to get so bad that I could barely take a step without feeling much discomfort and even pain. I went to a podiatrist, who made arch support bands for me with an arch support pad (would be like combining a wrap of this kind of tape Cramer F Super Stretch Tape and placing a thin pad on the arch. It'd look a bit like this when you're done Pedifix Arch Bandage (Pack of 2) , but it wouldn't have a bulky seam, no velcro and perfectly fitted for your foot. They worked wonders for me - I was able to immediately feel relief from the pain (not 100%, but with stretching exercises over a period of months, I can at least walk barefoot without feeling pain with every step. However, I will likely never be able to wear flip flops or go barefoot for any length of time ever again.)So I thought these Pro-tech arch supports would be similar. On the inside of the supports are tags that indicate which is right and which is left (the pad will always go on the arch). I don't think this is enough though to make sure you have the strap aligned correctly (my dr-made pads have an arrow that I align with the space between my large and second toe so I know it's in the right position.) The Pro-Tecs just don't work too well. First, they are hard to get a snug fit and have it *stay* snug. Second, they are far too scratchy to have on the bare foot because of the cheap velcro plastic strap that will be against your skin. Plus, on bare feet they don't breath well. When I did use these (generally I only use them when my other dr-made straps are all in the laundry), I found if I wore them outside of my socks I could tolerate them, but I had to wear shoes then because otherwise they slid all over my foot (to the side, up and down.) And lastly, I think the material they're made of, as well as the quality of the item, is lacking and totally not worth the twenty dollars I paid for them.Overall I cannot recommend these arch supports. Better to get yourself some 3" medical tape, some foam pads and make your own. I did a quick search on youtube on making arch supports and found dozens. I'm thinking you'd be better off starting there than these overpriced, difficult to use supports. On the plus side, my cat is amused by them. I find my Pro-Tech supports all over the house. For whatever reason he likes to carry them, swat at them, etc. However, these are mighty expensive cat toys. 2This is my second pairI like this product in "some" uses vs. the Mueller arch wraps. The tops of these are flatter and don't seem to gather up when you put your shoe on.My "only" knock on this product is that it doesn't have any stretch to the wrapping band. It makes it a bit difficult to secure at the tightness I would prefer.I wore out the gel pad in my first pair after near 2 years of use. My favorite application for this product is in my gym shoes when I play basketball. These wraps have made all the difference in me continuing to play ball with my plantar fasciitis problem. Beats the crap out of the $300-400 they want for an orthotic insole to do the same basic thing for me. 4Overall...meh.Seemed to work okay when I first purchased. I really only needed some additional support for my right foot which I have plantar fasciitis in.BUT, the tab that folds over the top doesn't fully cover the velcro, so the velcro grabs the inside of my sneaker. Also, forget using this if you wear shoes that aren't sneakers. I have a pair of ankle boots I wear to ride in, and this slides around on my foot when I go to put my boots on.Overall, I'm glad that this was cheap, but I won't be buying them again. 3So far so good - Helps alleviate the pain but doesn't completely cure itAfter I started working out heavily in the past 2 years, I started to develop plantar fasciitis. I tried the night boot, different shoes, sole inserts, etc. For work, I'm required to wear boots, which usually don't offer much arch support. I have a high arch and a large instep. I've been wearing these supports every day in my work boots since I received them.So far, it doesn't completely eliminate my pain, but it has helped it. My feet don't get as stiff after sitting for long periods of time, and my feet don't hurt as bad when I wake up in the morning. 4Every morning I felt the sharp heel pain and felt like a nail went through itI have plantar facitis. I try to do things naturally without just running to the doctor for treatment. Youtube has helpful hints for dealing with it by the way. But in my case, it was due to being overweight which brought on the the pain. Every morning I felt the sharp heel pain and felt like a nail went through it. Over the counter pain meds help only for a couple of hours or after I was walking around stretching it. But later in the evening, the pain returned. I ordered a large size pair. This fits my size 10 foot. The velcro strap is adjustable to fit. Little awkward with the feeling of the support in the beginning but the pain subsided in terms of relief. Not totally but relief. It is noticeable with the strap sticking out off the sides wearing a shoe. But what is better? Appearance or relief ... These straps do slide off with removing the shoe or taking off your pants. Find where your relief spot is with the strap and you should have some relief. Not a cure but less pain to deal with without taking meds for it. My suggestion. Get a second pair since products like this do not have a long life and may wear out over time. Next step ... Lose some weight. 5Not great, hardly any "support"I bought these so that I could walk around my house with arch support when I have no shoes on. There is very very little "support" and is more like a little tiny bump that didn't make a difference at all. I will have to maybe sew some additional material or something on here to make it supportive. Not only was it hardly what I would call supportive, but I wear a women's size 8.5 shoe and these were slightly too big, but they did fit with a lot of material left over on the top once I wrapped them around.. Overall, I definitely don't think they're worth $19, maybe $6 for a pair if they had more "support". I should have just made something for myself.. I think I'll continue to use these, but with a lot more added material that I will put on for myself for support. 2
