Loved it the first month, then it oozed black clay through the seamsI bought this product in Dec of last year and used it for one month after hip surgery. It was great, I liked the fact that it was so long and malleable, & I'd have given it 5 stars. Then it sat on the freezer shelf for 11 months and when I got it out today to use, it was a disaster. It started oozing black clay out of several seams. Unfortunately, I didn't know that until I got up. It made a mess of my nightgown, robe, and the chair I was sitting in. So while it was great the first month, I would only recommend it if you plan to use it for an immediate problem and then toss it. Storage in the freezer for later use doesn't work! 2Very quick for re-use and very flexable to form to the spots it is most needed in would recommend to anyoneI ordered this product because I will be having back surgery at the end of the month and a clay style ice pack is what was recommended to me from my DR. I have already been using this multiple times a day and will continue to do so. I plan on ordering another because the wife and I fight over who gets it next. It is perfect size for my back I'm a 5'10" Male around 200#. It doesn't take long for this to get cold and be ready to go again. The other major plus is that it is stays very flexible which when you already have a sore back or need it to form to you is great. Again Thanks for the great products and will be doing more business in the future 5Big, gets very cold, doesn't lastI like how this is the biggest one I've found- great for my lower back. It does get kind of moist feeling to the touch, so you will need to cover it with something. It also gets a lot colder than other packs because it's not vinyl, but a thick clear plastic, and the clay inside is black. Even more important to have a cover or barrier because of that so you don't freeze your skin. (I put a hand towel and pillowcase over mine.)Because it is clay, it's kind of moldable, so it's pretty versatile. I have widespread pain so I've used this on almost every part of my body, such as over a thigh, so the 3 segments are perfect for letting it drape around the whole limb, or I find it lengthwise to put it on my arm and cover most of the length of it. It's also nice and heavy which is nice and relaxing for when you have it on top instead of under you.You don't have to lay it out flat when freezing, I keep the 3 sections folded in and the entire thing still freezes just great.Update: the pack unfortunately did not last terrible long. I've had it for about 6 months and it's basically useless. The clay is hard, stuck in place, and doesn't really soak up or release cold. (I have used it pretty much daily for ice only.) Now, every day for 6 months may actually be good longevity for an ice pack of this kind, I really don't know. But the other ice packs I bought at the same time that are not clay are still going strong.If you want the benefits of the heavy clay and large size, just be prepared to replace it more often. 3Some spots are super hot while others are coldThis clay pack HAS helped reduce my back pain, but no matter how much effort I put into laying it flat and trying to even the clay out in the microwave, the clay never heats evenly. Some spots are super hot while others are cold. I even followed the directions perfectly! 3Do not buy this product!!!I bought 5 of these right after I had major surgery. A seam on every one of them opened up within a few days of use. When that happens, the dark brown clay oozes out of the plastic and makes a huge mess. This is a fundamental design / manufacturing flaw. I tried to get a refund from Amazon, but they stated their policy is that I would have to return the defective merchandise. However, every time the clay started oozing out, I had to threw ice pack in the trash. There are MUCH better products available through Amazon at a lower / comparable price. Amazon should discontinue offering this product immediately. 1Curvy icepackI had shoulder surgery and had trouble icing the curves and areas that needed it. This producted molded nicely over the curve of the shoulder and down the bicep area. It was too big for a woman s shoulder. It had three segments and I could have used two. Overall the product was better than the others I tried. 4Probably great cold. For hot it is very large for ...Probably great cold. For hot it is very large for a microwave, so has to be folded (along it's own folds) - result being different heating in each pad. Heating in hot water way too time consuming & messy. Retains heat well once heated, but very hard to get even heat across the whole pad - so I end up leaving it folded. Could have bought a smaller one for less money and covered the same area this ends up covering most of the time. 3Incredible! I'll never buy 'gel' again!This was super cold for a LONG time - longer than the skin could handle, even with a towel between it. Also still flexible at any temperature and conforms to all sorts of body shapes, sizes and parts. Recommending this to everyone!!! 5Love that is is largeLove that is is large! Is a lot heavier than I expected (my own fault for not thinking) which actually helps hold it in place better. Hold cold really well. I only use the fridge instead of the freezer. I have not tried it hot, and probably will not as I feel there is a great potential for it to Become too hot/ hood heat too long and burn me. Overall great product 5Superior to gel packs!A family member recently was going through physical therapy and raved about the clay ice packs used at the office. Ordered one of these for my father for his arthritis pain and he loves it! You can adjust for how much surface space you want to cover by folding or unfolding the pack (it has 3 equal sections). The clay is malleable even when frozen and it has a sort of cushiony quality. Would buy again! 5
