Customer Reviews

We drink our tea like the English- with milk and sugarFor many years. I only drank tea from Lipton tea bags. We were a Lipton family. I f you read my reviews, you'll find a common thread about brand loyalty. We drink our tea like the English- with milk and sugar. But several years ago, something was not right with Lipton- the taste was different and it was not good. I was the last family member to abandon the brand, it was a diaspora, we all branched out to try different English teas to find a replacement. This one happened by accident. I had tried high-end loose tea, English Breakfast tea, Irish Breakfast tea, popular brands, obscure brands, but nothing was the taste I was looking for: a clean, sharp, not too fragrant, strong black tea. I was staying with friends and they made me a cup of tea with P&G Tips. It was revelatory.Along the way to my tea discovery, I learned quite about about tea leaves. It turns out that the tips are the premium part of the tea plant, delivering the best flavor and fragrance. I don't purport to be a tea connoisseur, just a fan of a sharp, strong cup of black tea. I've made many, many cups of P&G Tips PG Tips Black Tea Pyramids, 80 Count tea and I'm really, really happy. Scone anyone?5Same packaging but not at all the same PG Tips product as sold in the UK.I was looking forward to being able to purchase this brand in the US, and especially on Amazon. Regrettably, these teabags were noticeably milder in flavor to the seemingly identical UK version. This was proven when I got a relative to bring some more over.I did a side by side brew; UK version in one cup, this version in another cup. This product was more like US brands, whereas the UK version had the traditional bold flavor I was used to. In fact, even when using two teabags, this US version is still much weaker. It's OK if you want to make lemon tea or iced tea etc, but otherwise, and if you like yours bold and flavorous, try to source the UK version from somewhere. I think it's quite dishonest that the maker is marketing this in identical packaging.2CHANGED BLEND :-o Only mentions inside package!! Bitter, 1-dimensional now! HEARTBROKEN !!!They changed the blend :( They did not mention this on their website, nor in this listing, nor anywhere on the outer packaging!!! I am upset!Once you open it there is a stupid monkey printed on the underside of the lid which mentions it. I suppose so that I can't return it since it is now opened? :(I was unable to get other tea at the time, so I am reluctantly drinking it, but it is not remotely as good as it was! I was IN LOVE with the old blend!!!This is more bitter, less fresh tasting, "one-dimensional" / flat / blah.PG Tips, I BEG YOU go BACK to the OLD BLEND it was perfect damn it ! ! ! ! !This was only my second time buying PG Tips. You've just lost a brand new former fan... It WAS my new favorite tea!! I am heartbroken ! :(1Best British Breakfast Tea.This is my favorite black tea for a cup of British tea (with milk and sugar). It makes a strong cup of tea and there is no comparison when it comes to English Breakfast Tea . I can sometimes buy it locally, but it seems harder to find. Occasionally, it can be found in the British section of a supermarket. This is first time ordering on Amazon.5Distictively delicious!Longtime users of this tea, close friends of mine, turned me onto this tea. I enjoy black teas. I will use Lipton in a pick, but the flavor, aroma, gentle but crisp caffeine, the roasting of this tea is Such a treat. My friends boast of having served this tea over the years, including to adult children who have never wanted any other unless in the mood for another distinctive black tea such as Earl Grey. The bag is durable and I pop it into my kitchen compost pot. I cannot imagine ever preferring another. I enjoy trying new teas, using also herbal ones. PG Tips is a winner.5Great value and no weakness here!I drink tea all day long and I was fascinated when I read that Victoria Beckham won t travel without her PG Tips tea. Well here I am a couple of days later drinking it and I have to agree, it s amazing. Strong, bold flavor in this original blend and even stronger if you go with the Gold variety. I m usually a Taylor s person but PG lives up to the taste and is a better value then Taylor s. I would highly recommend PG Tips if you like a strong cup. The pyramid bags are a cool idea and I also appreciate that the bags are paper, not nylon like some other brands. Better for your health and better for the planet. I wish Amazon carried the Earl Grey flavor, but perhaps eventually they will.5Tastes like Oil, nothing like PG TipsThere is something very odd about the PG Tips I received ... it tastes nothing like the PG Tips we have at work that was purchased from Target. I believe there are different types of PG Tips that look the same but are intended for mass production (catering) vs consumer purchase. The one I received has a tastes like stale oil ... Don t ask me why or how because I have no idea how it got to this state. The packages are sealed, they have expiry dates that are also far out. But something is really off and I can t tell what it is. On a separate note, the cost of the item was ~ 3 pounds - which included fast international Royal Mail - about half of what some of the other sellers charge. 52HORRIBLE!!! Epic FAIL on PG's new blend! The white box is pictured here, but the box that I received was the blue box sold in the US not the white box formulated especially for the British market. The monkey inside the lid said it was a "new blend..same great taste". Oh my, he was wrong there. what have they done to the wonderful PG tips we have grown to know and love??? This new blend is absolutely AWFUL, and almost undrinkable. It tasted bitter, stale and artificial with a really BAD cardboardy aftertaste. Not that they care, but they just lost me as a customer. I am not throwing my money away again for this awful tasting tea.1The only tea I buy.I used this tea to make...tea. My favorite brand, though I am but an unwashed simpleton from East Texas. I dare not say more lest my neighbors discover I am not, in fact, using these tea bags to make iced tea. Once they find out I only drink hot tea, it will only be a short time before they discover I am also lettered and writing missives to the Internets.5They've gone and ruined a perfect decaf tea blend.I've been ordering the PG Tips Decaf teabags for 2.5 years. This most recent shipment came with a nasty surprise. They have reformulated the blend. It doesn't have the deep notes us lovers of British tea are used to, and it has disgusting notes of bergamot, so it is like Earl Grey and therefore it tastes absolutely horrid with milk. It is not a refreshing cuppa at all. I contacted the seller in the UK and they thought there was more Assam in the blend and they also don't like it. Why on earth PG Tips had to go messing about with a perfect tea, I'll never understand. If anyone has a suggestion of a tea closer to the old PG Tips decaf blend please leave a comment below.1
