LOVE this productI absolutely love this product. It is organic and has no other chemicals or ingredients in it. I use this mixed with coconut oil and essential oils. My favorite mix is coconut oil, shea butter, orange essential oil, a drop or two of tea tree oil, and vanilla bean (the actual bean) all mixed together and this makes an excellent non comedonic (clogging) lotion for my dry skin. 5Good quality-easily melts and blends into skin!My oil came perfectly packaged and is very easy to use. It's not to hard at this time, but we also keep our apartment at 70 degrees at all times. A little goes a long way. Feels really nice on my dry facial skin! I plan to make a homemade moisturizer with this using essential oils! Worth the price and shipping was speedy. 5I love what this does for my skin - my cats just love the way it tastes!I've been using Now Organic Shea Butter for several years now and even strangers ask what I use on my skin!I apply it every night and immediately after showering in the morning. I also use it in my homemade skin lotions and sugar scrubs. I love that it is completely odorless.Two of my cats pester me continually to share some with them, so as part of my bedtime ritual I let each one lick a small dab off my fingers (I checked with both the manufacturer and my vet before doing this and was given the OK by both). Both cats have developed thick, shiny coats and the one with sensitive skin has stopped scratching and pulling his fur since getting some on a regular basis.Occasionally I have received a jar that has a bit of a gritty consistency, but generally warming it up in my palms turns it back to smooth creaminess. If not, heating it a bit in a double boiler fixes it.I would (and do) recommend this product. 5RUB IT BETWEEN YOUR HANDSIf you received this, put it on your hands and tried to get it in your hair and on your skin and it left a thick, sticky white residue, consider this before returning: rub it between your hands super hard and fast, with lots of friction. You gotta warm it up-- it's BUTTER, after all.After it's warmed up, you should be good to go. Took me a second to figure this out, afterwards it's been glorious for me! I have 4A/4B hair (4A towards the front of my head, 4B on the back), very fine hair, but thick density, and high porosity. Very good for high porosity hair-- seals in the moisture from my leave in conditioner. Might be a bit heavy and weight down fine hair with thin density, or curls less than 4A. Good for coarse hair or thick density, good for LOC or LCO method. 5Rough textureI like that this product is Organic, has no smell, isn't tacky to the touch like some other shea butters, but is it REALLY grainy and rough. I use it on my face as a last step to seal in moisture. I have to break it down in my hands for a few minutes to dissolve it. Even then, I find myself having to wipe off the hard bits its leaves. Wish it were smoother and it would be 5 stars !!!!!! 3Not consistent with other now brand shea butterI have had this product before and loved it. But this one is really grainy and much harder to spread. I am used to it being tough and having to warm it in my hands before putting it on my body, but this one feels like sand and takes even longer to soften. It's gross and I can't really use it. 1DIY to DMS My Body Butters, cremes, lotions, hairdressers ORGANICIt wasn't at ALL what I though. It may have been Pure 100% Shae Butter but it was settle into the container making it difficult to remove. It was granular ... I usually make my own creams and lotions starting with a soft bar ... like butter, maybe this one is like the barI purchase? I'd leave it on the counter overnight it would soften over night by leaving on the counter and then add my other organic vitamins & several organic oils to prepare, my body butters are similar to whipped butter. Nope, not trying this or any of the body "Butters" or "cremes" I'll continue to diy to assure everything I use is totally organic, totatally grade A and not bulk inexpensive product. I bought bulk before and it was granular just like this product when I could get any out to apply.Yes, as a matter of fact I have never kept it in a cool or cold spot so it should have soften Sorry I don't have any photos, I gave the container away. Hanging to tradition diy. 1Grainy!I usually love NOW products, but this Shea butter was super grainy, like it had been melted and poured in the jar without stirring to keep the grains from forming. It made the body butter I made with it pretty much unusable for it's intended purpose. 1How to fix the graininess.If you're reading the reviews to see if other people's are grainy like yours - I have an easy fix. Mine was gross, like fluffy sand and chunks that were very hard to rub in. I scooped it all out into a bowl, microwaved it until all liquefied, poured it back into the container and placed it in the freezer until solid. Now it's like a creamy, smooth, buttery dream. Try this before you give up on it. It turns it into a completely different product. 4Very dry climateThis is a great all natural product for dry skin in a very hot/dry climate . I have foot problems so I use it a lot on my feet at bedtime . It helps just about anywhere that your skin is dry and irritated . 5
