Great splint, but sizing, as listed, is wrong for womenWhen deciding to purchase this splint, I saw some reviews from women saying the size they ordered was much too large. I suspect the men's sizing is fairly accurate (most likely it was made, and marketed, by men), but if you are familiar with the typical difference in numbering between men and women's shoes, you will agree something is strange here. I wear a 9.5-10 women's running shoe, which is about the same size as a man's 8. I ordered the Medium, and it's a perfect fit with some room to spare both in length and width. The large would have been gigantic on me, so I am glad I did not blindly follow the manufacturer's sizing suggestions.I propose the sizing should be something more like:Small: Women <6.5/7, Men <5Med: Women 7-10.5/11, Men size 5-10Large: Women 11+, Men 10+Other than the wonky sizing instructions, I very much like the splint. The ice pack is quite cold, even with a thin sock on, and gave me the same cold ache as I get from an ice massage. I agree with another reviewer who said that the velcro portion of the top strap is potentially a little short for someone with larger calves. However, the strap on the overlapping buckle is long enough that the velcro not meeting well shouldn't keep someone from using the splint effectively. I am using the splint without the toe wedge until my foot loosens up some, but I like that the velcro on the wedge allows you to adjust the placement to get more or less of a stretch. I previously tried a dorsal-style splint (the futuro one), and no matter how I adjusted it my toes fell asleep or it just didn't position my foot properly. This boot style is bulkier but much more comfortable and effective.According to the instructions, the removable soft liner is hand-washable. It's attached in the boot with velcro, so it isn't too difficult to get back in place. 4good splint but didnt fit rightSplint is a good angle for support and material is very comfortable. I bought it because it didn't seem as bulky as most night splints and was a good price. The strap over the foot and ankle lay very well but the strap that goes over the leg does not lay over the cushioned part so it digs into your skin and shifts, taking away from the support. I am average sized and it seems the top strap would only lay right on someone with very thin lower legs.Of course everyone is different shapes and sizes so it would be worth a try. For me, it wasn't a fit and I had to return it.The delivery was prompt and the return was easy and hassle free. 3It works great to relieve your pain but the velcro wears out ...Product is ok. It works great to relieve your pain but the velcro wears out quick. After about two months of every day use, the velcro will barely stick. The upper and middle velcros, you won't have a problem since you still have the snaps to keep the velcro in place. The problem is the bottom velcro where you don't have the extra snaps, so if your velcro won't stick, you have a loose fitting splint in the bottom. It still works but at least for me, it feels uncomfortable when I sleep w/ it at night. 3You'll have more heel pain than you got from the plantar fasciitisThis is the first time I've ever given a product 1 star so I'm not a chronic complainer. First the good news: immobilizing your foot when you sleep does help the pf. Now for the bad news: there is a raised bump molded as part of the plastic shell at the back of the heel which presses up against your heel if you stand or walk. That bump causes more heel pain than the pf does. In addition the ice pad supplied feels like you're walking on ice cubes, not an ice pad. It can be very uncomfortable. And it's not as if I didn't give the brace a chance - I've used it for over 6 weeks. Don't buy it. 1Highly recommend this.I have very painful plantar faciitis. I tried a couple of different toe socks that tie your toe to your calf -- hated them. A doctor friend told me, "Get a boot. If you wear the boot and do the exercises, it will eventually heal." I read lots of reviews about various boots, and this one had the best reviews overall, plus a decent price, so I ordered one. And it is great. It doesn't even bother me to sleep with it at night, which I thought would be a problem after my experience with the toe socks. I went away for a week vacation and did not take my boot, and my plantar faciitis worsened again. I put the boot back on at night when I got home, and after a few days I feel relief again. I wear a women's size 7 shoe, and I bought the small boot based upon the reviews. I was concerned it might be too small, but it is just right. The medium would have stuck out way beyond the end of my toes, which would have been difficult to sleep with. I am very pleased with this night splint and can honestly recommend it. The third thing I am doing is custom orthotics from my podiatrist, and along with this splint, it has done wonders. I hope over time that my foot will heal completely. 5worked for me.I thought it helped a lot. The only bad design in it was I couldn't get the Velcro to go around my leg at the top (and it isn't as if my legs are that fat). But the part that clips held it in place. The ice part was really nice also. I used this when I broke my ankle. Before I got to go to a doctor to find out what was wrong...I put my foot in this so it wouldn't flop all around and cause me pain. So it has helped me out double. But I don't recommend using it for a broken ankle. That was till I got to the doctor. Now I have a real boot on. I would also make sure your bladder is empty when you go to bed. If you have to get up, you can't walk in this. It will go clonk clonk clonk and wake the whole house up. You have to take it off. So try to avoid that. 5Pain Relief...I ordered two of these. They arrived yesterday (10/26) and I wore them for the first time last night. I used the ice packs for about 20 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised that I slept well despite having something this bulky on my feet. I woke up this morning pain free for the first time in many months. On taking the boots off and standing up, No Pain!! It is now noon, and after sitting at my desk for several hours my feet again hurt on standing. Too bad I cannot wear the splints all day.(11/11)After two weeks of use I can say that using the ice packs makes a positive difference. When I use the ice packs I have no pain in the AM, without use of ice packs my feet are 'tight' and uncomfortable on first standing. Progress is slow, but obvious, the foot pain is definitely decreasing. Sleeping without the splints, even for just a few hours, results in pain on standing - not as bad as two weeks ago, but still not good. The splints don't interfere with sleep, but do keep my feet warm. In the summer this could be an issue. Watch for future progress reports... 5Brownmed Nice Stretch 90 Tension Night Splint Small - IT WORKS FOR METhis splint worked the first time I used it...I couldn t believe it! I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot, and prior to ordering and using the splint, I would have to massage my heel and foot for about 5 minutes before trying to take that first step of the day; otherwise, it was so painful. After using the splint the first night, I took off the splint, got up from bed and started walking; the heel pain was barely noticeable. I m really pleased with this Brownmed splint. The straps (both the liner and the nylon) keep my foot secure during the night. If I turn to rest on my side, I just bunch my blanket between my ankles for cushioning. The splint is well made, very sturdy, and comfortable. (Note: Made in USA , according to the instructions included with the splint)There are some grippy strips on the bottom so that I can make a trip to the bathroom during the night without having to take the splint off.The liner is attached to the plastic shell with hook tape so it can be removed and hand-washed.An extra piece of the hook tape is included, in case the one on the toe strap becomes worn (now that s attention to detail). The ice pack is a nice feature; not too cold but enough to keep my foot cool. As one reviewer commented, the ice pack is a little hard; however, with the warmth of my foot, it gets pliable quickly. (The ice pack will provide about 15 minutes of cold therapy relief , according to the instructions.)The toe wedge is also a nice feature (I actually add a folded sock to give extra lift).I wear a 6-6.5 women s shoe, and after reading another reviewer s comments on sizing, decided to order a small, rather than a medium that s recommended...the splint fits perfectly. 5LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS!!I have a problem with leg cramps at night, especially my calf. I have to keep my foot in a flexed position and when I fall asleep my foot relaxes and then I get cramps. I've tried multiple things to try and alleviate the problem but this is the only thing that has worked consistently. This is a quality brace. There is nothing flimsy or cheap about it It is light and comfortable to wear and well padded. I can walk to the bathroom during the night without having to take it off, but it's not designed as a walking boot. I thought it would be cumbersome to sleep in but it isn't. It's so nice to sleep through the night without flying out of bed with a leg cramp.I can see where it would be great for plantar fasciitis or achilles tendonitis even though I don't have either of those conditions. Frankly, I'm surprised it doesn't cost twice the price...it's that well made. 5Not good for your feet!So i bought two of them and the list of negative things is overwhelming, the Velcro wears out very fast, the clips are on the same side making it a pain to put on your left foot, the rubber on the bottom is laughable, the stretch is not very good for those who need a little more than 90 degrees, the padding is not good at all, and your heel does not sit in the boot when your laying down and the straps are so thin that they cut into your foot if you tighten them too tight and your feet go numb. The only good thing about them is the fabric is soft and the price is good. If your looking for a good product move on from this one, I m buying different ones. 2
