Medline MSC4104 wound tape.Tape is very good tape, stays on several days. Only 4 stars because of price; $20 for 1 roll is a bit steep. BUT because it works so well, I will probably continue to purchase. 4larger than I expectedlarger than I expected 4Fills An Important Need...This is not exactly Hypafix or your other dressing retention covers that have a backing to them. BUT THATS GOOD...This dressing retention tape is simply on a roll and perforated about every two inches. This is good when you can't get to those "Clean Scissors" (and are they really clean?). To cut the tape, remove the backing and place on the patient.Don't get me wrong... I do have a need for the dressing retention tape With Backing, but with this tape I can just simply pull off the needed length and tear it off at the perforations.... No scissors, No backing...Try a roll and put it up there with your regular Hypafix. I think you will be surprised how often you go for this roll instead...So why only four stars?... Well... Is any dressing Perfect? 4good product, but...I have used different brands of this type of tape. This pretty much the same stuff as the hypafix brand. the hypafix brand is just a tad bit softer, but not much difference. they both stick well for what they are too. They both have about the same in flexibility too, so it does work good on parts of your body that stretch or move (knee, stomach, etc). the key things to note about this type of packing of this brand is this. first, there is no backing. You can buy the rolls with the backing that has inch markings on it so you can cut it straight and on the inch, but this type of packing does not have that backing so it is rolled kinda like a roll of tape, where one layer sticks to the previous. It does not harm it in any way, but because of not having that backing, and the retail box, it is much cheaper per roll too. the regular retail rolls are one solid sheet. This one has the perforated cuts every 2", so if you just need 2", or 4", it tears easy at those marks, but still holds together good if you need a longer stretch then 2", so you dont have to worry about it ripping at that 2" mark unless you do it on purpose. That makes it nice for someone that has a small bandage (maybe a 2x2 gauze pad on you), because you dont have to worry about having scissors/shears to cut it, which is less hassle too. As stated, it does stick good, but also removes easily so it does not rip the hairs out of your skin when you remove it. basically, no after effects after it is removed, unlike a lot of tapes and bandages do.The one thing that i do have to comment on is the smell. The retail rolls that I have bought, with the backing on it, really did not have much of any, if any smell to it when I got them. this roll is individually wrapped in a sealed plastic bag, and has a bit of a, i guess you could say, hospital type of smell, to it. It is kinda strong when first opened, but after it airs out for a little bit, the smell gets much less noticeable. the smell may completely go away with a little time and fresh air and may be strong when I first opened it because of being sealed in an air tight bag. Only time will tell on that one. but even if it does not go completely away, I can live with it. Also, like I said, it is not retail shelf packing, so there is only the sealed plastic bag that it came in. The retail versions have a cheap flimsy cardboard box to store the extra in. This one does not have that box, but if you just open it from the end like a bag of chips, then you can just put the roll back in the bag and push the plastic in the center hole to keep it clean. I find that works fine. If not, I am sure that you could put it in a sandwich bag, or something similar to keep it clean. Not a big deal there.Overall, yes I do recommend the product. Yes I do like the backing on mine, but considering I got 12 rolls for the price of 2 or 3 retail rolls with the backing on the tape, I can not complain. Great price, good product, and very comparable to the hypafix brand stuff, just cheaper. I got mine from medvetinternational.Update......I have now tried the stuff. I have left it on for about 12 hours on the back of my hand (test area that has some movement so things like band aids dont always stay put there) and it stayed on with no problems. When removing it, it came off easy with no irritation, plus the hospital type of smell was gone too, so airing it out does get rid of the products hospital type of smell. Also, the person I am getting these through is selling them for about $30 for 12 rolls. After writing the first review, I started looking into it more and noticed that they are the only ones selling them that cheap. the rest of the sellers selling this product are selling them for about $100 or more for the same 12 rolls, so the price things can very. Overall, I am very happy with the product and ordering another box so I have them, especially for the price. 4Poorly ConstructedAlthough the tape itself works fine, the way the 6 Inch roll Is constructed is very poor. Difficult to work with with perforations every inch and a half.You can't get a decent size strip to cover the area. If you buy this stay away from the 6 inch roll, stay with the 4 inch or smaller. 1Five StarsExcellent product. Fast service. Good price 5
