Good coffee, if you don t it spilling all overThe coffee is decent, especially for the price. I do like the flavor of the Swinging Bold (great name, too). The problem, however, is the new style of K-cup they switched to. While I applaud their efforts to make it environmentally friendly, this style of K-cup bursts inside my Keurig machine and makes a real mess.2decent coffee but flawed "Realcup" pods.The Mad Monkey Midtown Medium coffee itself was ok, especially when you factor in its low price. However, the box of forty-eight that I received had only nine intact "real cups", all of the others had lost their seal making the coffee stale and undrinkable. The Marley coffee company, which is my favorite brand coffee, uses the same type of k-cups branded "Realcup", and usually out of a box of forty-eight there are a few with broken seals. I have seen a box of Marley One Love have up to six defective "Realcups", which is bad, but to have more than 80% of the k-cups be unusable is not acceptable. The only reason to spend the extra money for K-cup coffee is its freshness so I can't recommend this brand. In the picture the pile of cups on the right are all the ones with broken seals and the few on the left are intact. Notice how the ones on the left are puffy and the ones on the right are flat and wrinkly looking.3Flavor is deep and complex, without bitterness or acidityThis review is for Midtown Madness:I tend to gravitate towards darker coffees with a deep "coffee" flavor rather than any of that light, medium, or fancy flavored stuff. I like my coffee to taste like coffee and I want it to be strong enough that I still get a full bodied coffee flavor after adding a little cream and sweetener.But I hate coffee with a bitter taste and acidic aftertaste, which is where most coffees go once they get in the bold flavor range. This coffee promised to be medium range so I had decided I would have one cup and likely pass it off to my teenage son or husband...after tasting it I am keeping it for myself :)This one, wowed me! It is a very deep and complex coffee, full of bold flavor but completely void of bitterness or acidity.Welcome to my new favorite coffee.I am now a subscriber.5Good quality coffee, packaging must be improvedWould be a 5 star review, I love the taste. However, I keep getting the same issue with "blown" cups. I have been buying this coffee for a while. With this last order, I have to "babysit" my coffee maker, turning the pump on and off to keep the coffee in the k cup. I am at work right now and made a cup, and was not able to monitor the brew process. See attached photo.Update:First cup of the evening upon arriving at work for the night shift -- with me even turning the maker on and off -- cup blew the seal again. I'm done.Update:4/23/2017I stayed away from this coffee for almost 6 months hoping they would fix their quality issue with the packaging. I report that they have not. I guess they WANT to loose business3Exploding K-CupsOut of the 48 cups that were contained in this, 34 of them were unusable due to the lid not being sealed or having them explode shortly after putting them into the brewer. It's sad when you make a cup of coffee and the entire bottom half of the mug is just the coffee grinds. It's also pretty lame that whoever designed the recyclable cup portion didn't think about the seals becoming weak and just exploding in your K-cup brewer. Overall, I enjoyed the very few cups that had actually been usable, but due to the mass amount of duds in this darn box I feel I was cheaped out on and lost a lot of money just for trying a product that I had never heard of before.1Great coffee, but something is wrong with the cup designWe really liked the flavor and it is a very reasonable price. However, something is wrong with the design. Most of the time, the coffee would barely trickle out of the machine and the cup would only be half full. Two minutes later, there would be water all over our counter. Thinking our Keurig was broken (it is several years old), we would use a different brand and everything worked great. We received another box because we had it on subscription, and Amazon refunded us our money and didnt want the unopened box back. So I took it to work and tried them in our huge commercial size Keurig and they work perfectly in there.3Bold Flavor At An Exceptional Price. Love The Monkey.Wow! What an incredible taste. Another reviewer said it tastes like espresso and they're right. Well, almost right. This Mad Monkey doesn't smack you around, like espresso can, but it still has that bold, full-bodied taste I crave. I got the Swingin Bold because my husband used to be a barista and knows that the darker the roast, the less caffeine the beans will have. Not a whole bunch less, but enough less so that I can enjoy two cups of fantastic coffee without feeling the need to dust the white lines on the highway. What surprised me was the lack of bitterness or after taste. It's just a rockin' good cup of coffee for a reasonable price. I'm not even a quarter of the way through my first order, and I've put in an order for more. Yeah, that good.5Items failed causing obnoxious clean-upThe flavor isn't bad, and based on the coffee alone, this would be a 5 star item.Issue is in product packaging quality. I have had one in four fail. By fail, I mean the top part (the glue) comes undone while the coffee is being made. This causes the coffee ground to flow up and over the k-cup, and from there they wind up inside my Keurig. I thought one was a fluke, and that two was another fluke, but after we had three fail out of 11 used, we threw the rest away. The time it took to clean the machine was not worth it, and I am still not sure if there is any permanent damage.Do not buy if you want your Keurig to continue working.1Love it except for one problem.I love the flavor the taste is great I received the product on time and in perfect condition. I would have loved to give it 5 stars but there is a problem the cups are taller then the regular k cups . The first time I tried to brew coffee it came out of the top of the keurig so what I tried and it seems to have fixed the problem is put the cup in first shut the lid then turn on the keurig.update I noticed that sometimes the top doesn't get punctured so I close the lid then open it make sure the top was punctured if not I puncture it then close the lid and they work fine but too much trouble so I won't be buying these again.2... years now and am always on the lookout for good cups. The ratings and value on these (only ...I use my Keurig brewer almost every day for about 3 years now and am always on the lookout for good cups. The ratings and value on these (only 41 cents per cup) helped me decide to take a chance on them. My first impression was how unique the cup itself was. This is the first one I've seen that has a clear plastic casing so you can see the brew bag inside. (see photo) The aroma when brewing is nice but not overwhelming. Now I have to say the reason I lean towards bold or dark roast brews is so that I can brew a larger cup on coffee without the coffee tasting weak or watery. Mad Monkey's box suggests using the 8oz brewing option which I did and it was a nice, full flavored cup of coffee. No acid or bitter notes, just smooth flavor with a slight nutty note. I brewed my second cup on my normal 10oz setting so I could get a full mugs worth of coffee and it still stood up on that setting. I'm very happy with my purchase and will keep this on my normal rotation.5
