Side by side comparison of square bags vs roundSo I really have been drinking London cuppa tea for years now. When they changed over from round bags to square bags it has totally thrown me off. I kept thinking the square bags were not the same and that there must be a difference. Today while cleaning out my tea cupboard I found another couple bags of the round London Cuppa I decided to do a side-by-side comparison to put my mind at ease or to confirm that they were different. Now mind you I am no scientist. I put each bag in a mason jar added the same amount of water and gave it a full five minutes to determine the outcome. In the first minute the round bag was noticeably different and darker brew. I thought for sure it was a positive test For trickery. I let it brew the full five minutes and there was no difference. I am thinking that the shape of the bag affects the way a brews and then just giving it a little bit more time makes them equal in color. The round on flavor comparison was a little more bitter but that could be that the bag is older. I did like the bitter flavor more and it does remind me of they way the use to be. Maybe the tea leaves are nicer and kinder in the square bags. I do prefer angst ridden bitter leaves they match my soul so much better.I understand why they went to square bags there s less waste of tea bag material. I do so for some reason still miss the round ones though.5Was my favorite This WAS my favorite cup of tea BUT something has changed. I know they went from round to square but the quality and strength of tea is totally different, 2 tea bags still isn t same cup as one to the previous. I LOVED this stuff and hope you go back. I switched brands. Why did you mess with perfection? Even got my husband to give up coffee for tea.1Not Cuppa round tea bags!Very disappointed. What I received was in London Cuppa packaging, but it was not London Cuppa. First the tea bags were square, not the signature round shape. I checked the London Cuppa website and they are still packaging round tea bags in their 440 bag size. I still had one of the round Cuppa tea bags, which I opened and compared the tea in that bag to the tea in the square bags. The square bag tea is a lighter color and you really can't call what is in it .... tea ......... There are no tea leaves or granuals.. It's more like dust. No wonder it makes such a weak cup of tea. Can't understand because I've ordered this before and received round bags. Amazon was terrific in handling the issue, just wish I had gotten Cuppa!1Why change a good thingI have been loyally buying these tea bags for years now. They are no longer round bags as advertised. Less tea in a cheap square bag. While visiting my daughter over the weekend she pulled out the Cuppa round tea bags I had left there from a previous visit. What a difference ! I m hooked on this tea and will continue to purchase, but why you changed something so many loved?! I have no problem paying more if you would go back to the original product. So many loyal customers are not happy. I have to ask.....do you read these reviews ? Do you care that so many customers are unhappy with this change? PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL BAGS!! Or at least respond to the comments, explaining this change.2Amazing Tea, but HORRIBLE packaging.I am a London Cuppa loyal. I first found the tea at a local discount outlet. It was the loose tea tin and priced for only a few dollars. I was hooked! This is by far my favorite basic, strong black tea. A drop of honey and milk and I'm in heaven. It was well worth the non-discounted price (although slightly shocked at the difference) available on Amazon. This large bag is the most economical option if you love the product. However, I've purchased three separate orders (each lasts about a year for us) with three different experiences. The first was perfect. Each bag intact and the expiration about a year out. In the second order about a sixth of the bags were not sealed properly. Annoying, but I typically use loose leaf so no biggie. The third order (March 2014) was terrible. Most of the bags were not sealed properly (about 95%) and the expiration date was four months out. For a cafe that goes through tea like mad this would not be an issue, except the broken bags preventing convenient single-serve options. For me, who enjoys them slowly with friends over a year it was frustrating. The larger bag/outer packaging was ripped causing them to be slightly stale. The constant emptying of broken bags into a brew basket or tossing a seemingly good bag into a cup, only to find tea chunks floating in my cup, was the worst part. Had I noticed the rip and not expected a few bad bags, it would have been sent back ASAP. As the bad bag count climbed, so did my disappointment. I am back to place my fourth yearly order; however I will take the kick in the wallet and order the smaller boxes. I'm not sure if the company is having the issue or this particular packaging changed but I will not be accidentally dumping scoops worth of tea on the counter, floor or down the drain again. This lovely tea is far too good for that!3just wish they made a decaf version for a great cup in the eveningAfter trying many, many different brands and types of tea we came to the conclusion that the tea sold in America is dishwater junk. Cuppa is the only tea to drink, just wish they made a decaf version for a great cup in the evening.Wish Amazon sold cheese for the same reason that domestic cheese is too salty and resembles some synthetic plastic substance.5Sadly It's TrueThe change from round to square bags wasn't just a change in equipment. The bags have less tea and it is milder. The "strong" London Cuppa is now disturbingly weak even when doubling the bags per cup. From best to worst in one swift change. Looking for a new brand because I'm not sure they'll even still be around once I finish this lot.1Deceptive description...teabags aren t round and Less teaLovely tea, but they changed from a round tea bag to a rectangle with half the tea, so I have to use twice as much to get the same awesome flavor. The description also says the teabags are round. Deceptive.2It was love at first cuppa!Once upon a time I dated a Brit who taught me to appreciate tea that actually has some flavor and body, which teas "blended for the American palate" do not have, and also how to make it (the water MUST be BOILING when poured over the bags). And once you know what tea SHOULD be, you can't ever go back. I was spending a fortune getting various brands from importers when I tripped over London Cuppa at TJMaxx and bought a box...After I'd made the first cup I went back and bought every box they had...and continued to do that every time I saw it at TJMaxx till I found the 440 bag pack at an importer. Their price was good, but their shipping charge was outrageous! I was about to order again from them anyway till it occurred to me to check Amazon (what the heck, they have everything else!)--and there it was, even eligible for free super saver shipping! Woohoo! :)My only quibble with the 440 count bag is that, unlike other English tea brands, the tea bags aren't in 40 or 80 count air tight pouches. 440 bags is a LOT of tea bags, and tea deteriorates when not stored in air tight conditions for any length of time. But I have a Food Saver and a Fresh Saver (vacuum baggers for frozen and fresh foods), so I repack it myself in bags of 80 and keep those in the big bag in the pantry (yes, those bags ARE expensive, but they're re-useable). When I open a pouch it goes into a sealable tin by the stove. If you like GOOD strong black tea, you'll love London Cuppa. And Amazon has it for the best price.5Very disappointingI have received my order today for 440 London Cuppa tea bags and find that this product is not as described on Amazon. Specifically it says "Each box contains 440 round tea bags". This bag contains cheaper made SQUARE thin teabags that are NOT at all the same as the old London Cuppa round thicker tea bags. In any case - I have been drinking London Cuppa for years and I am very disappointed. Not only has the bag changed but the tea also has changed and not for the better. Don't stock up on this!!1
