Awesome!Sure they are different, yes there is a learning curve, but these have truly and remarkably given me a "better period". On my heaviest days, since my cervix drops, I do have to empty out the cup every couple of hours, but on light days I can go the full 12 hours! I found that using the handicap stall at work is fine for changing it if you're careful since the sink allows an easy way to clean up. If you do it right you won't even feel the cup and my vaginal walls are thanking me since I'm no longer using cotton which can cause scraping if not completely saturated. I've tried the Diva Cup, but Lena is the clear winner, soft yet firm, grips to prevent movement once in place, and the tulip curve is perfect. If you're going to try a menstrual cup, use this one and don't give up after one period. I'd say if you can't get it to work after three or four periods than it isn't for you. Definitely look up you tube tutorials! 5Cost effective, cleaner, safer, enviro-friendly, easy to use, and worry-free!This was one of my best purchases ever, and I will never go back to tampons ever again. Being one of five women in the household, I always had the impression that tampons and pads were just about all I had in terms of options. However, as I was browsing on YouTube, I found myself at Precious Stars Pads channel (one of the people who actually worked on this cup!) and fascinated by the idea of a healthier, environmentally friendly period alternative.I was very scared to try this because I wasn't someone really comfortable with that area of my body, and after hearing many explanations of how it worked, I felt like I wouldn't be able to do it. With that in mind, my first experience didn't quite go according to plan, HOWEVER, I didn't want to give and call it quits. With these cups, as a first time user, you do have to be patient with yourself and getting used to motions of using the cup. It's been a few periods later of using the cups, and I haven't had better period experiences in my life. I use the large cup more often than the small just because my period is heavy just about the whole way through, and it's surprisingly more comfortable on my bladder than the small one. It took me some time to figure out the folds and the easiest way to clean them when in public, but overall it's far better than using tampons. I feel like my periods are less stressful now because I don't have to worry at all about leaking or changing nearly as often as I used to.If you're scared to try this, don't be! I know it's easier said than done, but with a leap of faith and a lot of patience, you will become familiar with using the cups and it will be more comfortable and cleaner than the traditional methods. I was scared once, but not anymore. Not to mention, these are far more cost effective than constantly buying one-use menstrual products. 5Tampons can burn in hellLadies, these cups are the way forward. I prefer the Lena design to other makes because the curved lip at the top prevents leaks during the day. Sure, you might spill a bit the first time you change it out, but you live and learn. If you're hesitating because you are afraid it will be messy or "gross" to use, you're wrong. (Overall they are easy to insert/remove, and spillage is minimal.) You know what's actually gross? Destroy's your vag's pH with chemically bleached cotton and leaving micro shards of synthetic/cotton blend fiber behind in your vaginal wall. Be kind to your ladybits. Treat yo'self to a silicon cup. 5Great for the Environment! The LENA Cup is a really great menstrual cup! It is great for the environment since it is reusable and can be used for quite a while. It doesn't leak when inserted properly and you can't feel it at all. It takes some trial and error getting it right, but once you get it right, you'll never want to go back to tampons! There are a couple of different ways you can shape the cup to insert it. There's the "C" fold where you fold it in half, the "7" fold where you fold on side down to make it look like the number 7, or you can push part of it in (I can't figure out how to describe it, I attached pictures!). There is a "stem" on it to help pull it out. If it's too long, you can cut it down with a scissors. You can wear it a lot longer than a tampon depending on your flow that day. Its also really easy to clean and each cup comes with a cute fabric bag to store it in! I love that there is a two pack of these with a small & large flow! The small is great for those light days and the large is awesome for the heavy days. 5Lena saved my life!I never thought I would be writing a review for this product, as I did my research, and there are already a ton of really great reviews on the Lena product, with tips, and tricks, and don't do's! Shout out to the reviews before mine! However, because I researched, then bought it and tried it, I have to tell you, I want to be an advocate for this company! No woman on this earth should have to stick with JUST tampons or pads just because that's what we've been trained to use. Please all ladies: Give this product a try! It's life changing. I won't get TMI, I will just say tampons gave me crazy, painful cramps, and I used both tampons and pads because of a heavy flow. I really feel like I was exhibiting signs of TSS, or something, and it still wasn't enough to stop me from using them! CRAZY LADY, I know! This is life changing. No leaks for me, just needed a few practice runs. And what's so funny to me is I used to OVERFLOW a Super Plus tampon and pad, and with the Lena, it's like I haven't even put a DENT in the amount it can hold! Thank you so much for this product. 5Tampons shmanpons.."Bye bye, Tampons! I have a new bestie on period and she is much more impressive than you ever were"Yes, I'm that happy about this. After taking an environmental science class, I became aware of everything wrong with disposable feminine products but was not very sure about a menstrual cup... It seemed grossly gruesome. So since I was preparing to have a period (I was on Mirena for nearly 6 of my 9 years of hormonal birth control and was ready to get off it to get pregnant) the universe happened to have me stumble upon some videos that pertained to menstrual periods (Looking at you, Precious Star Pads!) I happen to see the Lena, and seemed perfect in every way possible. Made in America, medical grade silicone, good price, clever color, recycled box... And so much more.I ordered and have been using it for two cycles, I'm in love. I'm saving money, I'm not hurrying to the bathroom, I don't worry about leaking, it's comfy, no chemicals/TSS/ extra product waste. It's been odd to adapt to not changing a tampon, but I'm enjoying it. With a little practice, menstrual cups are a breeze. I would encourage others to try it out.Yes. It is intimidating and new, but their is great info on the web such as YouTube and Amazon reviews that are very educational! I don't plan on ever going back to tampons. 5Hello LENA, where have you been all my life?I had done a fair amount of research on menstrual cups before I decided with this one. The biggest reason was the two different size option. I had no idea what size I'd be and I didn't want to pick the wrong one and it be uncomfortable. However, I do believe it depends on your shape. Every woman is different and I can see why it would work for some and not others.I was nervous about removal the most. I read a couple reviews where women said it was painful or they struggled getting their fingers up far enough to get a good grip on it. The tail on this one makes it easy to find and I use it as more of a guide to pinch the very bottom of the cup to break the seal. If it seems like it's up far then just bear down and you can grab it. I imagine it would be painful if you tried to pull it out without breaking the seal first. Do not do this! Do not pull on the tail alone to try and remove. It will not work and it will hurt. It's amazing to me to see exactly how much blood you are really loosing. It may seem like a lot when you're going through tampons/pads every couple hours but it's really not that much! I empty the cup in the morning and then again when I get home from work and before I go to bed. It never leaked. I even wore a pad just as back up and there wasn't a spot on it at all. I LOVE that I'm not worrying about pad/tampon changes mid day at work. I don't always get the chance to go when I need to. I felt like I always had to wear black pants and/or a long tunic top as insurance coverage just in case of a leak. I'm so excited to have found this and I have no idea what took me so long to get on board with it. I suppose I was kind of intimidated by the fact that you have to be pretty close and comfortable with your own body to be able to do this effectively and efficiently. I'm glad I got over myself because I'm never going back to pads or tampons now! 5This cup doesn't seem to be for me - Updated reviewI gave a three star review because I do think that the design and material are great. Just not for me.I'm an experienced cup user. I've been using a Diva for many years. The only reason I decided to try a different brand was because I do experience some cramping with the Diva. I bought the Lena two pack and was initially extremely pleased. I decided to try the Large first. I'm 48, have had two vaginal deliveries, and have a medium/high cervix. The large was easy to insert and opened for me without a problem. I experienced absolutely no leaking, even though I needed to empty the cup after two hours (super heavy flow the first two days). I know that the cup was sealed because I heard the suction break when I was removing it. My problem was that the cup slipped down to the entrance of my vagina when I urinated and when I was walking.I did end up cutting the entire stem off to see if I could live with the cup sitting so low, but I can't. I tried multiple folds and made sure that the cup was fully open. Each time I heard the suction release upon removal. Today I tried the small, hoping that maybe it would work better. The same thing happened and it slipped all the way down.I'm disappointed, but I don't think that the product is at fault. I think that it's just not the right cup for me. Which is really unfortunate because I experienced no cramping and no leakage at all. I have recommended the Lena to my daughters, I just think that despite kegels and lower abdominal exercises, my pelvic muscles can't keep this cup in.I've emailed customer service hoping or some advice to make this work, but haven't heard back yet.I wanted to add an update. This is the third cycle I've tried using both Lena Cup sizes. I've tried every fold and position. I love how easily the cup open, and I desperately wanted it to work. I just think that it's not for me. I can't get it to stay where it's supposed to stay and I end up a lot of irritation from reinserting and adjusting. Perhaps the shape isn't right for my body or my pelvic muscles are too weak to hold it where it's supposed to be, but I'm done trying now. I'm disappointed that it doesn't work for me, but not in the product itself. I would highly recommend the Lena as a first cup for anyone to try. 3WENT TO THE HOSPITALI received this cup 3 days ago and have never used a menstrual cup. I used the smaller one for the first day of my period and it was hard to insert at first,( Used the C fold) but once it was in then it was fine. Aunt Flow ended up leaking through overnight while the cup was in. I tried to take it out in the morning but it was very hard because the string was hard to locate and it was sitting very high. I managed to pull it out. That morning I tried the larger cup. Very hard to insert in (Used the punch down fold) , I made sure to follow all the steps and take the right precautions. As a few hours went by, I tried to remove the menstrual cup and it was stuck and no where to be found. I couldn t locate the string that hangs from it and I could barely fit one finger enough to try and take it out. Every so often I would try and take it out and this was for a span of 2 hours. Nothing.THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART:I had to go to the hospital to get the large Lena menstruated cup removed. The doctor explained how it flipped over and was laying horizontal inside. It was very painful to have it removed. This is the first time I have ever used a menstrual cup. I am not a Virgin and have used all types of feminine products. But I do not recommend this one. 1Really like these, so much better than tamponsThe last cup I used was the Diva Cup, which I mostly liked. I noticed after a while though that it was starting to smell funny and the clear silicone started discoloring (I cleaned it regularly and followed the instructions). I decided to try a new brand to see if they all do that after using them for a year or so, so I picked this one. The main things I like about these are 1) they're fun colors and 2) they're different sizes. I really like having the smaller cup for light days and the larger cup for heavier days. The larger one I find a little unwieldy and harder to get in and out (although not that much more so than the Diva Cup). The smaller one I think is much more manageable and is the one I primarily use except on heavy flow days. I also notice these ones leak less than the Diva Cup. I don't know if that's to do with the shape of the cup itself or what. The shape of the cup also makes it a little harder for me to get it out though (regardless of size). I've gotten used to it over time. and it's not so difficult that it would prevent me from buying this cup again, but I still found the Diva cup easier to get out. However, I've found this cup easier to keep clean and it doesn't seem to stain as much. Something I thought was interesting was the large version of this brand was only marginally larger than the smaller version of the Diva Cup. I will definitely not be trying the larger Diva Cup any time soon lol. So, all in all, I'll probably be sticking with this brand for a while. For anyone who has never used a menstrual cup before, you get used to it. I was super weirded out by it at first and didn't think I would like it, but I was tired of spending so much money on tampons and pads. Pads often give me a rash, but I have to wear them at night during my period and I needed a liner during the day (liners will also give me a rash... yay, me). My new routine involves one of the menstrual cups (usually the smaller one unless it's a heavy flow day) and period-proof underwear. It's a game changer. I don't have to worry about leaking, no matter what activity I'm doing (I really like yoga) or if I'm sleeping (I used to leak a lot at night). And I don't have to empty the cup nearly as often as I used to have to change a tampon, which I think is so convenient. I've had to empty it at work a few times on heavy days, which can get a little messy, but so can pads and tampons. And I save SO. MUCH. MONEY. It's more money up front to get the cups and period-proof underwear (they're not cheap, but I've seen more expensive undergarments at Victoria's Secret, so take that as you will). But once you have what you need you don't have to buy anything for a very long time as long as you take care of them properly. If you're thinking of switching, give yourself time to get used to it and try out different brands if the first one you try doesn't work for you. But everyone has their own preferred routine and everyone's body is different, so figure out what works best for you. I wasn't completely sold on a cup until after probably my third period using it. Now I will never go back to the old tampon and pad routine. 5
