Customer Reviews

Just did not work for meIt did not work for me. I did not find it any easier to use this however you might. It is made sturdy and no sharp edges on a plus note. I knew i would not end up using it because to me it was as cumbersome as putting on the stockings myself. I tried to get a refund but it was not a quick simple return. Had to contact the seller. He said after watching a video he would return if I sent to him therefore I do not have any large complaints. I had already watched the video and I threw the product away. The vein nurses also said they had thrown theirs away because i offered it to them. I do not return things often to amazon. perhaps one out of fifty items. so when it was extra steps i gave up in this busy world. 1I can't believe I didn't get this sooner!I use compression socks when I travel, and after my daily run. (These are my faves: Compression Socks (1 Pair - Argyle Pink M) 20-30mmHg Graduated - Best For Running, Athletic Sports, Crossfit, Flight Travel (Men & Women) - Suits Nurses, Maternity Pregnancy, Shin Splints and MoJo Elite Recovery & Performance Compression Socks - Pink Small) Getting them on after a shower is almost as tiring as a long run, so this contraption really helped! Took some time to figure out the best way to use it, but once I got the hang of it, I can get my compression socks on my legs without needing my husband's help, and without feeling out of breath. I can't believe I didn't get this sooner! My only dislike is that it is a bit weird to store, since it isn't collapsible (prob a good thing since compression socks are powerful). So finding a place out of the way for this was a bit hard. 4Another Worthless Gadget! The only way for this to work would be for your compression socks to be completely stretched out to the point of total worthlessness or your foot to be the size of a pencil. I studied many different stocking donors and based on the manufactures recommendations regarding the size of my socks and measurements of my legs went with this unit. Its like a joke to think this would ever work for me. Total waste of time and money! 1Makes putting on compression socks an easy task!I'm a big guy and while I could put on my right compression sock without any issue, I struggled with the left, in particular, getting it over the heel. And while I'm a big guy, I also have lower back issues which makes bending difficult and painful which didn't help. After some research, I decided on this because it was metal which makes it more durable. It made putting the compression socks on so much easier and faster, HOWEVER, the top where you slide the socks over isn't very big. I wear a 12 (US) 4E and my feet fit through fine, however, my calves are too big (about 18"...I'm 6 ft). But that's ok for me because I needed something that would help me get my compression sock over my feet past the heel. And this product does that. 5Handles Need To Be Longer.Although this item does help with putting on your socks, you are still required to bend over quite a bit in order to hold the handles and place your foot into the sock. If bending over is your issue, like it is mine, you will find this item a little difficult to use. I cannot have the the sock Donner flat on the floor when I insert my foot as I cannot reach the handles to then pull it up. The handles are almost even with your toes when you first insert your foot into your sock. For some, that may be too much of a stretch. I have to bend my leg and place my foot across my other leg and use the sock donner while it's off the floor to be able to reach the handles. It is quite clumsy this way, but it works. What I plan to do is tie a piece of rope on each handle so that I can hold the ropes when the sock donner is down on the floor and pull it up over my foot that way.If the handles were only about 6 inches longer, this unit would be much easier to use. 3Jobst Stocking DonnerWorks very well. I may need to get a larger one but this does what it is supposed to do and it does it well. Follow the directions and you will have no troubles. The key to making this work is to thread the whole stocking all the way on to the Donner. Make sure the heel of the stocking is on the rounded wire and is closest to you. If you do not thread the stocking all the way on you will only be able to get part of the stocking up your calf. Then you will have to start all over. Try not to stretch the stocking too much as it is hard to adjust once fully on.It takes practice and a bit of patience at first but you will get it. 5Definitely makes it easier.Works fine for these 15 to 20 range compression socks that go to the knee. Much harder to get the 20-30s on there and I couldn't even get the 20-30s on in small, med or large size. This thing works fine but the main problem is getting the socks ONTO the unit and for an elderly person or someone very weak, that can be a real chore each day. I've managed to do it and really, w/o this device, it'd be very difficult for me.I place the sock heel facing the curve with curve facing me then I pull it down over the middle part all the way till the top of the sock (the top meaning the seam that goes around under your knee when it is fully on) is at the bottom of the unit. Then just pull evenly on both sides till the heel shows up and then I stop because I do NOT want my toes pressing hard against the end of the sock. I put foot in, press leg down, bend foot upward to stretch sock BEFORE pulling the unit up. Then once you get it on you just adjust with a few finger pinches if it's too far up. work it back down to your ankle however you like. That's it. 5BEWARE....!This is made for skinny calves...and it's very hard to reach the handles because they're so close to the socks. My husband's calves measure 17.5 inches around and they will not fit in this device. Since most people using this device have swollen legs/feet, you would think Jobst should have known to make it larger so larger calves would fit. Gotta send this one back...the only thing I've ever had to return to Amazon. My husband was very disappointed. 1I looked them up on youtube and they looked easy to useI've been wearing Footsmart or gold band brand compression socks for several years now (also ordered through Amazon because I save over $10 per order with my Prime benefits. But arthritis in my knee sometimes makes it difficult to get them on. Someone mentioned using a "donner" to get them on. I looked them up on youtube and they looked easy to use. So I ordered this one. Bad move!! I need compression socks for a couple of reasons. One of them is my being overweight. If you have swollen calves, as I do, it's impossible to pull the sock up over your calf with this donner. This is my fault for buying. Should have noticed that the models all had skinny legs to start with. When the arthritis kicks in, I have to take a couple motrin before putting my socks on, or not wear them. NOTE: When I can bend my knee enough to put the socks on, I use a cheaper method I learned on youtube that just requires reversing the sock. look it up and save some money. 3Better than nothingTwo significant issues. The handles are far too short, and no way to keep the hose from slipping down as you try to put it on. My toe cannot bottom out before the hose slip down the device, as there is no way to hold the hose in place as the friction of the proximal part of my foot forces the hose down. The first design flaw is quite the worst. After you place the hose on the device, which requires very considerable hand strength if the hose have serious compression, say 20-30, there is no possible way to hold the device far enough away from your foot to start your toes into the hose. I have to use just one hand holding it away as far as I can,and contort my body, with significant effort, to get any start on inserting. If I had access to tungsten-inert gas welding (popularly called Heliarc), I would add nine inches to the handles. In practice, I would "experiment" with the needed extension with temporarily attached extensions to get the optimal distance, to enable me to get my foot started while holding the device with both hands 2
