An Essential Oil With Antiviral Properties? Awesome!I purchased this 10 ml bottle of Grapefruit Essential Oil by Aviano Botanicals along with a variety of other oils for my wife who is amassing an essential oils collection. Each oil has it's own use benefits. Grapefruit oil is definitely one of the more common oils. It is derived from the peels of a grapefruit. It has a crisp citrus smell. I imagined it would be potent smelling but it wasn't. Just right actually. Mixes well with other oils (ie: Lavendar, Bergamot & Frankincense). I'll illuminate some basic uses and leave further research up to the reader. It's a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the cells from premature again. Promotes healthy eyes and vision. One special property that many of the other oils don't have is the ability to kill viruses. It's also effective against bacteria. Helps relieve anxiety, stress and depression. It acts as a stimulant in the body. It reduces appetite and helps manage weight. It helps treat stiffness and cramping in the muscles and helps reduce oily skin. Boosts the immune system. Reduces blood pressure. Research this amazing oil yourself to learn about it's full potential benefits. Not all oils are created equal. Many have claims to be high quality and they just aren't. This oil is high quality because of the way it's harvested. It uses a steam distillation process to extract the oil from the roots which yields a premium therapeutic grade essential oil as the end product. It's 100% pure! There are no other ingredients, additives or diluting agents. The only ingredient in the bottle is Grapefruit oil which is as it should be in every case but unfortunately isn't with other products of this kind. My wife has used this oil in her diffuser (sometimes in combination with other oils). She uses it to deodorize. She's highly considering make some homemade candles with Grapefruit oil as one of the scents. This would make a great gift for the budding essential oil enthusiast! There are some IMPORTANT things about Grapefurit oil that you need to know up front. It can cause skin sensitivity if applied to the skin and the person goes out in bright light. Use sparingly. It should be avoided during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Ingesting this oil is safe in reasonable quantities. A little goes a long way. Grapefruit oil interacts with certain medications! Make sure you research which ones before use.Please do your homework BEFORE you use any essential oil. Some can be ingested. Some can't. Some can be applied directly to the skin while others need to be diluted in a carrier oil (such as fractionated coconut oil). Used correctly essential oils can be very helpful. However, the same holds true for the opposite. I wouldn't say it's just a hobby either because I am able to incorporate them into much of my life from making my own body care products to helping with illnesses to scenting my body and home. While I would never ever not go to the doctor or trade essential oils for traditional medicine but I do like to use essential oils to ease symptoms and potentially prevent issues such as a cold or flu.Essential Oils should never be ingested without being under the care of a certified aromatherapist who is trained in ingestion. Essential Oils may be of the earth but they're still very strong and can be dangerous to people with health conditions or on medications. Essential Oils should never be used by themselves topically. They should always be diluted with a carrier oil such as a Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Grape Seed Oil, or one of many other oils or the oils can even be mixed with each other to get the most benefits from the carrier oils and the essential oils. Diffusing essential oils in an essential oil diffuser is always a great option and can help freshen up your home as well. There are jewelry diffusers as well for personal aromatherapy. Nasal inhalers are another options, especially when dealing with respiratory and head issues. Nasal diffusers are also great to keep your oils to your self when you're around children or other people that you're unsure of if they're safe to be around the oils.Essential oils aren't recommended for children under the age of 2. Grapefruit Essential Oil is considered to be safe for children ages 2 to 10 though. There is a lot of contradicting information being shared these days pertaining to essential oils so I highly recommend that anyone using essential oils, especially around children, do research prior to using them. Make sure to use avenues that aren't making money off of the sale of essential oils. Some companies do not have your family's safety in mind and if you research it you can make an educated decision on your family's health.Grapefruit Essential Oil is a sweet, citrusy scent. The strength of the scent is light. Grapefruit Essential Oil can cause photosensitivity. It is not recommended to use it any higher than at 4% dilution for topical use. It is imperative that anyone using an essential oil that can cause photosensitivity to be cautious when creating any DIY body care products. Always warn anyone that may come in contact with a product with an essential oil that can cause photosensitivity and always use extra caution when using it on children.Grapefruit Essential Oil can help lighten up mental fatigue and moodiness. It is invigorating when diffused. It can also be used topically at a 1% dilution rate as a purifier of congested, oily, and blemish prone skin and it is sometimes added to carrier oil or creams and lotions as a natural toner.Grapefruit Essential Oil is one of my favorite essential oils all together. I find the scent so appealing and enjoyable but it also really brightens up my mood when I diffuse it. I look forward to diffusing it on my days off because it makes my day! A blend I really like diffusing is Bergamot Essential Oil, Grapefruit Essential Oil, and a small drop of Spearmint for a kick or Sweet Orange. It's my ultimate pick me up!I do wish their labels provided more information on them such as the country of origin. The country of origin can make a huge difference on the fragrance.I received a discount on my bottle of Grapefruit Essential OIl by Aviano Botanicals for inspection, testing, and reviewing purposes. My review is based solely on my personal experience with it.5Wonderful Fresh Uplifting ScentI've been trying a lot of new single scent essential oils lately as I'm exploring the wonderful word of oils. This is my first experience with Grapefruit EO by itself of any brand so I have nothing to compare it to. I wanted to try it because it is listed as one of the oils in many of my favorite oil blend brands.When I opened the bottle I was refreshed with a beautiful scent of fresh grapefruit fizz, much like when you are cutting into a juicy Ruby Red Grapefruit and the mist comes up from the fruit and splashes on your hands and face if it's close enough. I must say I was very pleased with this scent and when rubbed in my hands and cupped around my nose for smelling it took me to a fresh, happy beautiful place. I often do that, I place a drop of my oils in the palms of my hands, rub them together and closing my eyes I cup them around my nose and take several deep breaths repeatedly.This oil has many uses and I feel like it is a quality oil. It didn't feel greasy to the touch and I didn't smell any chemical odor. It truly smelled like fresh grapefruit mist. Great for mood enhancing blends.
