... for more than a year now - been consistently pleased with their productWe've been ordering Fresh Roasted Coffee's Columbian for more than a year now - been consistently pleased with their product, and decided to branch out with Bali Blue Moon.I've found our new favorite daily brew! The Bali seems to have a sweeter, rounder, more chocolate-y flavor than the Columbian. The price is higher, but still not ridiculous for a tasty daily coffee.Note - when we first ordered the Bali Blue Moon, we also got a new, superior coffee maker (the Bonavita BV1900TS) and a quality burr grinder - it's possible the improved equipment is what makes the Bali taste noticeably sweeter and rounder than the Columbian did before. I'm sure at some point we'll order the Columbian again and see how it tastes, and I'll update this review!5High quality, great tasting coffeeVery nice high quality beans that are a true medium roast. I've ordered different coffees from this company in the past that were a bit darker and oily but this one is def a medium.I was surprised how fresh it was being ordered from Amazon and not directly through FRC. My estimated delivery was Nov 8- Nov 18 and it arrived on the 7th, with a roast date of the 5th! (the roast date is printed on bottom in julian calendar format).Nice balanced overall flavor, earthy notes aren't so prominent, compared to the Sumatra or other Indonesian coffees.. very smooth and not bitter. I prefer to make in an italian stovetop espresso/ coffee maker using a burr grinder and found that different makers like a French press have a much lighter taste with this bean.Def recommend!5FRESH and Flavorful!After reading other reviews, I decided to give this coffee (and seller) a try! Using a french press (and after grinding), the coffee "foams up" beautifully when adding water ~ a sure sign of a fresh product! The flavor of the Bali Blue Moon is SO smooth and delicious and definitely rivals the best brewed coffee I've had in any high end coffee shop! Makes for a very happy "Good Morning"!An updated review: After numerous purchases of this coffee from this seller, I can only say that this is our HANDS-DOWN favorite coffee EVER!!! We are forever fans - To the roaster/seller: PLEASE DON'T CHANGE A THING!!!!5but there was a nice balance of about 10% "light" (pale) and "dark"As others have mentioned, these beans arrived expediently and roasted only a few days ago, with a strong aroma even before opening the parcel.The "medium roast" is a fitting description, but there was a nice balance of about 10% "light" (pale) and "dark", oily roasted beans in the mix - perfect combo in my book.The first brews immediately brought me back to when I was sampling coffees on Bali myself. It has all that enjoyable, feral funk of a native fermentation. The aroma is focused around humus, exotic woods, slight exotic fruit (papaya) and leather. The taste reveals a great backbone of acidity, moderate tannins and does not seem to become bitter no matter how strong or long you brew it. Magnificent.On a side-note, this coffee is also perfect as an 8-hour cold-brew infusion. Even when just done in your trusty old French press, you get that oily, liqueur-like texture. I only wish I could pour this "on Nitro" at home - may need to look into a culinary syphon with nitrogen cartridges!5Quit looking, this is the oneI've tried about 10 different varieties of Fresh Roasted Coffee. Bali Blue Moon Organic is the one I'm settling on.. got it on automatic shipments now. About five bucks more for the 5 pound bag than a lot of FRC flavors, but it's still a great price per pound compared to anything in the stores. Highly recommended. Whether its a freshly ground pour-over thru my stainless steel Bold Drop or a full pot in my Zojirushi, it's the best I've found without going into the exotic Kona-sphere.5Best Coffee I've Ever HadIn full disclosure, I never used to drink coffee, but now I have 2 kids, so it's kind of essential. That being said, I'm new to drinking it on a regular basis, but I know what tastes good, and this stuff is my favorite. It's my 3rd bag. I have a different brand and kind that I like to serve to guests, but recently when I made it I had to drink the "guest coffee" too and almost spit it out. That other stuff was bitter and had an aftertaste. I poured out the pot and made this stuff instead. This coffee is smooth, and isn't bitter. My guests have mentioned how good it is too, so there's that. I love that it's organic, because you don't want extra chemicals in your coffee, and it's mild and tastes so good! It will be the only coffee I drink and or serve from now on.5Best damn coffee. Period.This is the best coffee I've ever had. It's always fresh, bold, and full of flavors that I've never found in a coffee. When visiting Bali, I had the opportunity to become addicted to this particular bean. I never thought I'd find a comparable roaster back in the US, but these guys have it down. The only unfortunate thing is that due to its increasing popularity, the price has gone up significantly since the seller started offering it. Still, once you start drinking it, you're not going to care. If you're concerned about price, grab you a package of freeze-dried Taster's Choice. If you truly enjoy the flavor of good coffee, don't whine and buy this.5Bland even when using 50% more beans per cup of brewI used the same amount of beans per cup of coffee as I had used with other beans and the resulting coffee was extremely week. I made a fresh pot with 50% more beans and the result was a little bit better but still weaker than black tea. I drink coffee black and it was bland. If someone added milk or sugar to this coffee the "coffee" aspect would disappear completely. Every got coffee from a vending machine? Well this coffee's flavor profile is just like it.I will be dumping the beans as there is no point in wasting the electricity to heat the water for these beans.1Switched to it when Chiapas Mexican became unavailable...got a bad batch :I had gotten the organic Chiapas Mexican coffee from this company for years from this company for my historic Bed and Breakfast, and the guests and staff loved it. There was a short time when the Chiapas Mexican became unavailable so I ordered the organic Blue Moon Bali to take its place.The Bali was really good and I recommended it to others and ordered more. But today, I opened a bag of it that tastes and smells like epoxy glue. Not an exaggeration. (I have 2 -5# bags of it) I do not know what caused this. I made three pots-all tastes and smell the same. One staff member described the smell of it as a burned electrical wire. It even smells that way in the bag as well as after brewing. It has an expiration date of 10/1/2020. It was pricey and I hate to throw out the bags, but unsure of what to do.I do know that I cannot serve it to my guests in the morning.I always HATE not giving a good review, and the review would have been 5 stars when I first got my first bag of the Bali Coffee last fall. The rating is for today's unfortunate experience.3Terrible Product! You'll never appreciate any other coffee bean ...Terrible Product! You'll never appreciate any other coffee bean ever again! Coffee is forever ruined. It's a gateway bean to true coffee snobbery. First it's the slow soak in the french press then it's the fresh grind each time to bring out the rich deep flavor from the oils.... You might stop and wonder what is wrong with you and where you went wrong in life but then you'll take that sip and truly realize how deep blue moon has its talons into you... there is no escape no turning back only a life of servitude to the flavor of Bali Blue Moon... /cry.... *sip*On a side note the flavor profile is an excellent example of how varied the depth can be when prepared in different methods. Fine grind into a K-cup module vs coarse ground French press vs Standard Drip... you'll be amazed!5
