The one BIG drawback is that they are for narrow faces. Look like they'd fit a kid. I was going to use them for a costume, so it's not a huge deal. They'll still work for reading glasses, just are too small for my face (which isn't all that big!). They were shipped promptly and appropriately, a good thing. The size is the issue. 3Cutest vintagey readers will transport you back in time. These are super cute, but seem a little fragile. Keeping them in the case and handling gently is recommended.I love the retro/vintage of these. I feel like I'm on Cold Comfort Farm about to pick up some sewing.Being that they are readers though, they are a bit limited in use. Not so great for work or knitting with friends. I have to constantly peer over them at people. My prescriptions, not so. But for a serious "heads down" reading or knitting session, they are awesome. And the price is fantastic.I would definitely recommend these. They are so cute and fun. 4Well, I won't be buying these again.I've been wearing these exclusively for years, but not anymore.I ordered a new pair, a quarter-strength up, and had to return the first pair. The earpieces were bent in a lot farther than my others of these glasses (I've had four or five pairs over the years), and the left earpiece was bent in more than the right. So they were generally too tight, and the left was so tight it pressed on my temple along its whole length, very uncomfortably.Hoping it was just a fluke, I ordered another pair.Nope, exactly the same as the one described above.I'm not going to return the second pair (well, maybe I am - 18 bucks is 18 bucks, and they are messed up compared to all my previous ones), just make a resolution not to order these anymore.Sigh.... I had the perfect reading glasses, for a while.Pic attached. Old ones on bottom, new ones on top. Notice how with the new ones the earpieces are *much* closer together (and you can't bend this flexible plastic to adjust) and the left earpiece is farther in than the right. That's enough to make them quite uncomfortable, especially on the left side, where the whole earpiece mashes rather firmly into my temple. 1Love 'Em!Have to admit at first I was put off by the thinness of the glasses elbows. But now two weeks later I have found their flex is an asset, and to date no problem in terms of concern about their quality or longevity. Of course only time will tell. But I love the solid plastic frame - have had a lot of trouble personally with breakage of attached nose pieces so like glasses where there are none. Nosepieces just part of the frame. Especially as with reading glasses they are not on at all times and the opportunities when taking them in and out of your pocket, leaving them lying around, etc., minimize the chances of breakage. The look I like. Wish they had a pair with different color frames and when and if I find out they do, will pick up another pair or two immediately. 5They're not kidding when the called these "Flexies"I was interested in these glasses because I thought it would be useful to own a pair of glasses that a little more resilient than the run of the mill frames. These were not what I was expecting it's like wearing a pair of glasses made of limp noodles. Not comfortable, they just feel weird on my face.I'll keep them because, I guess, I should've done a bit more research before ordering them. But I don't plan on purchasing them ever again. 3A really great pair of reading glassesExpectation: A quirky pair of reading glasses that let me read text on my phone and books comfortably. Results: A quirky pair of reading glasses that are the most comfortable pair I own, and have the best clarity.I have a pair of cheap drugstore beaters, and some "Fairlane" reading glasses I purchased via Amazon that I'm comparing these too."Lightweight Flexible Frame" are usually keywords I see used to disguise "cheap plastic construction." Not with these reading glasses. The frame really is purposely designed to flex to fit your head (mine being medium-large-to-large). This means I don't have to spend time trying to adjust the fit by bending the metal frame [like on my drugstore glasses], or fiddling with how the glasses sit on my nose [as with my nonadjustable Fairlane glasses. In short, these just fit perfectly, and they're lighter than my drugstore glasses, which makes them more comfortable by leaps and bounds.Lens quality is another big plus. These glasses look the most clear by comparison, which allows me to read longer. The only downside is everyone comments they look like the glasses the character Harry Potter wears. Being an older male, I'm not sure I like the comparison, but it's hardly a reason to not wear them. All in all, I only paid a couple bucks more than my drugstore glasses, but it's worth every penny. 5Wanted to like--but lens developed problem--vendor does not respondUpdate: Jan 12, 2015:Wanted to like these, but right lens developed a problem and vendor closed return and exchange, and did not respond to call and emails, so out of luck.On the Tortoise frame, in 0.75, initially had no problem, then the right lens developed one big ellipsoidal mark near the bridge, a smaller mark is now developing underneath. The glasses have not been dropped or abused, the lens mark just developed spontaneously. I suspect it could be the composite lens bonding breaking down, due to the continual flexing of the frame when putting the glasses on and removing. They do need to flex on wearing due to the one-size fit all design. The lenses do attract a lot of lint, requiring periodic blowing off or washing. As noted below, the black framed model has a creaking sound, seemingly due to the right eye side of the frame being off-molded slightly, which apparently required special bonding to attach the right lens. I suspect the creaking noise to be from the right lens rubbing against the frame, although it is difficult to confirm.I will provide a video review showing the ellipsoid marks developing on the lens. I sent a picture to the vendor but they just ignored me.>>>>Light weight, forget they are on the nose. Very comfortable. I bought one at 0.75 diopter, and got another at 0.50.I am looking for a computer reading glass solution, rather than a book reading glass solution. Being able to sit with good posture while working on the computer and reading the screen is important.I tried an adjustable diopter glasses but it did not work well for me.I also bought a competing reader - it looked cute, but the eyeglasses did not have nose pads at all--not even a little out-dent, so did not work for meThese are almost perfect, hope they will last.NOTE:I had a problem with the 0.50 diopter one in the Black Frame--there was squeak to the frame. They send me a replacement, but it also had a squeak--no issue with the tortoise frame. In comparing the black and tortoise frames, it seems there is an imperfection in the right on the black frame--two black spots on the edges of the right lens--on both the original and replacement pair--seems like some kind of adjustment. This does not appear on the tortoise frame.Vendor has not responded to my last comment. They had sent me a replacement, and told me to discard the original black frames. But the replacement had the same problem--I told them it was up to them what they wanted to do, send me one in tortoise or not. I could live with it. 1They really do flex! They look cool. They are lightweight. They conform well and sit nicely on your face - unlike how a pair of stiff glasses can press uncomfortably on points on your head. Good glasses. only minor drawback is they are so flexible that they sometimes don't grip the top of my head well when i take them off and put them on the top of my head. But in place on my nose and ears - they stay on fine. 5Not suitable for adultsOK, my error in ordering here, not the company's ... but the scale of the glasses is much more suited to use by a young teen than an adult. The lenses themselves are small and terming the length of the sides 'short' is kind ... but again ... my error as I thought the scale would be on the order of other reading only glasses I have purchases and that assumption was wrong. 2They have all broken within 6 months!I really love these readers! The problem is that they break too easily! I've had four pairs break a side piece off. And several have had the lenses fall out! Once the frames broke when I tried to put the lens back and two more wouldn't stay without gluing, but the superglue got on the lens and smeared! I sure wish I could find this same frame that was alot sturdier! Anyone know of one? I'm probably going to buy one more because I like them so much, but that's it! Yes, they are inexpensive, but buying so many really adds up! They fit my small face just right. That's why I keep buying them. 3
