... am in my third trimester and I'm having the worse time with swellingI bought these maternity compression socks because I am in my third trimester and I'm having the worse time with swelling. My OBGYN and my husband both have been bothering me to purchase a pair. I have never owned a pair of compression socks and I had no idea how tight they would be (which is the whole point). Having the included sock thing that goes over your toes to help get the compression socks on has been a life saver for me due to my big baby bump getting in the way. I do have to adjust the bottom bands near my toes when my swelling gets bad because it starts to hurt, but overall they have worked great to keep my swelling down. I am 5'3 and I have muscular calf muscles and with the extra swelling in my legs I decided to get a size Large and they work great. Be sure to measure your calf and use the sizing chart because I almost got a size medium which would have been too small. Good quality product. 4Highly recommended!I am 33 and 7 months pregnant with my fourth child. This pregnancy has given me troubles with vericosities in my right leg. I live in the south and haven't wanted to wear any compression stockings because it's hot, but I now have to.Yesterday was the first day I wore it and I cannot believe the difference!!! I wore it right until I got into bed and my swelling was still under control.Don't get me wrong, they are not cute. At least with the toeless sock I could wear open toe sandals with a long maxi dress and no one could see.Pay attention to size chart and actually measure your calf and ankle. Naturally I would have ordered the sm/med, (I'm 5'3" 115 lbs pre-preg) but ordered the large and it fits just right. 5NOT EASY TO PUT ON/TAKE OFF; TEXTURE SOMEWHAT COARSEIt's possible that a larger size would have been easier to put on and to take off, but I regret to say that I found this brand socks difficult to handle. And it's also possible that young pregnant women are stronger than a senior retiree like myself, and perhaps they wouldn't have my issues with them. While the mesh seems very strong and may be just the thing a pregnant woman's legs need, I found the texture of this tightly knitted material a bit coarse and somewhat scratchy.Since the positive reviews for these compression socks far outnumber those that are negative, I can only conclude that I must have weird legs, and that my fingers and hands are simply too weak to work this extremely springy material. . 3A 'must buy' for swollen legsThis is my second pregnancy and of course nothing is the same as the first. I started swelling early around 17 weeks due to some health problems and my legs looked like elephant legs! I bought a pair of sport compression socks but they were hard to get on (my husband had to do it!) and did nothing for the swelling. I bought these maternity compression socks and I was so impressed! The foot sock really helps me get them on myself. Hooray for independence! They bring the swelling down evenly and smoothly and they are comfortable! I like that they are toeless so I can wear flip flops with them this summer. I love these compression socks and would definitely recommend them to other pregnant mamas! 5See instructions for putting them on, careful of irritation when sitting too longI got these to wear on the long flight to Hawaii for my babymoon...I wore them and also got up at least once an hour, which wasn't a problem since I of course had to go to the bathroom a lot due to midwife's orders to stay hydrated during flight. These stockings were comfortable enough once I got them on, except they really hurt the skin above my ankles...when you sit (especially in a cramped plane), your feet are kind of flexed, and so these stockings press down on the skin how it is. When I took them off, I had deep red irritation marks on the tops of my ankles from where my feet had been "wrinkled" (since they were not stretched out) and these dug in. To be fair, it happened (to a lesser degree) with the slightly lower compression stockings I got, too (wore those on the return flight). But it was pretty painful! I tried to stretch out my feet/ankles but it's kind of difficult when sitting.Getting these on for the first time was quite an ordeal, until I saw the little card with instructions. That made a HUGE difference! So definitely don't make my mistake, and look at the instructions first. :-)I don't regret getting these because they made me feel better about taking such a long flight, and I like that they seem to have serious compression. Just try to keep your feet stretched out (not at a right angle to your shin) and read the instructions before putting them on! 4DO NOT BUY THESELet me start by saying that I have worn my fair share of compression garments, having had several surgeries and issues with varicose veins... I know how they are supposed to fit (tightly) and how it can be a struggle to get them on. Having said that, this brand SUCKS. Do NOT buy anything in the Preggers brand.I am pregnant now, and wanted some form of compression leggings/knee highs/etc to wear to work, as I am a pharmacist and on my feet pretty much all day. I ordered 2 pairs of the Preggers Maternity Footless Tights 10-15mmHG and a pair of the 20-30mmHG compression knee highs. I tried to wear the knee highs, and even though I carefully measured my ankles and calves and ordered a whole size larger than the chart recommended... THEY. WERE. TIGHT. They were so tight, they were very uncomfortable, so I had to take them off immediately. Understand that I was used to wearing thigh high compression stockings at 20-30mmHg all day, for at least 12 hours... never bothered me one bit, and they almost felt nice -- NOT THESE.The next day I tried on the Footless Tights in the 10-15mmHg, thinking that they would be a little more forgiving, since the compression was half that of the knee highs... nope. THEY WERE HORRIBLE. Not only was I unable to advance the tights past my knee, I wouldn't have worn them anyway since they were completely see through and almost cut off my circulation due to them twisting so easily. At the point I was able to get them to the bend at my knee, I'd had enough. I took both pairs (tights and knee highs) to my OB apt that week and asked him about them. Was it possible that I was totally out of "compression stocking practice"?? He had me show him how I was "trying to put them on" and immediately told me to return them and get another brand. He said they were clearly not sized properly and potentially dangerous as is, due to the risk of twisting and over compression. Again, he recommended Sigvaris brand.Ladies... please take my word when I say to spend a little more and purchase a true medical grade compression stocking/knee high/thigh high. Your pocketbook may be lighter, but your legs will thank you -- and you'll get to keep your sanity each morning. 1Warning: Not suitable for flying! Causes painful swelling in toes!Do not wear these socks on long flights (over an hour). I bought them prior to a European vacation, because my doctor recommended that I get compression socks for the flight to reduce the risk of blood clots, because I was 5 months pregnant. I also thought that the open toes would be convenient for me to wear comfortable shoes. During the flight I noticed that my sandals were becoming painful, so I had to take them off. After we landed, I could barely squeeze my feet into my sandals, and painfully walked to retrieve my bag where I had a pair of flat canvas shoes (with stretchy material) that I could change into. I was so shocked at how my toes had swollen outside of the compression socks, that I decided to take before and after photos on my return flight home the next week. The first two pictures are of my feet before the flight (both with and without sandals), and the second two are after the flight. The difference is clearly visible. I've considered returning them because I was so disappointed and they caused me a lot of pain and discomfort, but I am not sure they will take them back because I have used them. These socks may be good for day-to-day wear, say if you need to wear them to work in the later months of pregnancy. This is the only reason I did not give them a lower rating. They are made of good quality material, and I could tell that they were supporting my lower legs, just not my toes. They should, however, warn people that they are not suitable for flying! 3Helped with leg crampsI was getting leg cramps all through the night, during my pregnancy, and someone suggested maternity compression socks. I tried these. I made sure to measure my calf before i ordered and used their guidelines to order the size. The size fits and since I've started wearing them i haven't gotten the leg cramps. If you use the thing that came with them, getting them on isn't too difficult, but getting them off takes a little effort, especially because, you know, pregnancy. It's awful it's summer and these socks are very warm, but I'll take being warm over leg cramps all night, any day. 4Highly suggest getting normal full compression socks over these.I have 2 regular pairs of compression socks since I am pregnant so I thought I would buy these for a road trip coming up so I can wear them with tights so they aren't as noticeable. My feet still swelled and I could barely get them off from swelling. I've never had that problem with normal compression socks and I've been using them for 3 months now. I couldn't even return the items. 2SAVED my poor fat pregnant legs!I did great my entire pregnancy until the last few weeks where anytime I stood up, my poor feet and ankles swole up to the size of a couple piggies in a blanket... sooooo not cute, and even worse they were uncomfortable.. I would sleep in these and kept them on 24 hours a day (minus showering obviously) and my legs felt a million times better. I ended up ordering a couple pairs, because hand washing them and laying them out to dry everyday was getting tedious... They are tight to put on if you wait until your ankles are already swollen, but once they're on, you feel so.much.better. Pregnancy gift basket must have! 5
