Customer Reviews

I use this Basil Essential Oil as headache relief and for aromatherapy!I ordered this Basil essential oil to help on days when I need a lift in the mornings (to use in my diffuser). I work from home and have been using different diffuser blends. This oil is supposed to help with focus! I sure need that!I've been expanding my collection of EO's (Essential Oils) over the past year and learning their uses. The aroma of this Basil essential oil is really appealing (doesn't smell like I'm cooking Italian food, LOL) but rather pleasant and I LOVE putting it in my diffuser with some peppermint and orange oils. It's such an uplifting and energizing scent. For headache:I'm glad I ordered this oil! I put a couple drops in with a carrier oil (Argan, same Aviano Botanicals brand) and used it today to massage my temples to get rid of a headach this morning (and put in my diffuser too).I learned that Basil EO is helpful when you have a cold. I need to put some of this in my small diffuser kept in the bedroom to help when I'm suffering from cold symptoms.I was reading some great information on aromaweb.com (below), one of the most helpful sites:"Basil Essential Oil can help stimulate the mind and allow focusing on the task at hand. Basil Oil is an energizing oil and is best used during the morning and daytime hours. Basil Essential Oil is considered anti-bacterial/anti-viral, it acts as an expectorant. Basil Oil is also said to help with headaches.""The chemical composition of Basil Essential Oil can vary greatly between varieties, batches and suppliers. Ideally, look for Basil Essential Oil that has a a significant percentage of Linalool and that is weak in Methyl Chavicol (Estragole), a suspected carcinogen. Basil Oils that are higher in Linalool tend to have a more appealing aroma. Additionally, Linalool is said to act as an insect repellent."NOTE: I messaged the seller asking about the above information and received this reply back quickly: "Hi, we have not conducted lab testing to determine the chemical composition for this particular oil yet unfortunately. I am sorry we could not be of more help :/ "I thought it was good they replied back and were up front about not having the info. I will say that the scent is very appealing, so I'll venture to guess that the Linalool % may be high in this brand. Most people use just a tiny amount of this oil in a blend with a carrier oil, so the % is small and that's all that is needed. I would not take any oils as "medicinal" in food or drinks that do not say they are intended for internal use. This Basil oil is for topical use and diffusers (as labeled) and I use it as such. It's important when researching an oil to look up several well regarded websites with facts and pay heed to safety instructions. Some people overdo it on oils and use them improperly in quantities/concentrations that are not healthy. This is 100% pure and I like that it has a very secure safety seal of plastic over the entire bottle and cap. It also has a twist off lid that is tamper proof as well. I was very happy to received this Basil essential oil at a discounted price during a promotional period in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. To be helpful, I'll post some photos.:)5Not quite rightDoesn't smell quite like basil and comes out ridiculously slow3Best brand I ve found!I love this brand! The oils are actually pure instead of saying it is and being diluted with another oil that changes the smell. These smell absolutely amazing. Hands down my favorite brand. And the price point is really good!5No luck at all, sadlyMaybe it's just my nose, but I don't smell the two scents I've tried so far. Have used it on toilet paper rolls, as suggested, in a diffuser, using as many as 10 - 12 drops, and on ceramic rings circling lit light bulbs. So far....NOTHING works!!!3So many uses for this savory, warm, essential oil. This oil is warm and aromatic. It gives a savory scent throughout your home when diffused. I've researched a bit and this oil shouldn't be used by pregnant women without checking with midwives or doctors first. This oil blends really well with black pepper, lemongrass, and others.Upon my research I've also found : "Soothing sore muscles and jointsAssisting with clear breathingActing as a cooling agent for the skinPromoting mental alertnessLessening anxious feelingsReduces tension and stressEnhances memory function.Promotes hair and scalp healthSoothes minor irritations.Making your kitchen smell, and your food taste, like your Italian grandma is here for a visit and cooking up her favorite Italian food."And"Top Ten Uses for Basil Essential OilTo help ward off insects or bees, make a solution with 1-2 drops of Basil oil, mixed with 3-4 drops of fractionated coconut oil or other carrier oil. You can apply this to the bite several times a day.For small skin irritations, you can apply a drop of Basil oil mixed with a drop of coconut oil to protect against environmental threats.Basil oil can be used to promote ear health. Do not use Basil Oil directly in the ear, but dilute a drop with a carrier oil and rub it behind, over and around the ear.If you are feeling anxious or stressed, try diffusing Basil in your room, or apply a few drops to your pillow before you go to sleep. You can massage Basil oil into the area where you have muscle spasms. When you have any head pain that you can t seem to get rid of, try diffusing Basil oil, or massage it into your temples, the base of your neck and over any specific area of pain. Are you having trouble with oily hair? Add a drop or two of Basil oil to your shampoo, and massage it into your scalp. If you are struggling with minor skin irritations, you can apply Basil to the area. You can add it to a carrier oil or use it neat, as long as you have already tested an area of your skin for sensitivity to Basil. When you or a family member need support for overall respiratory health, diffuse the oil throughout your room, or add 1-2 drops to a steam tent and breathe in the oil. You can also massage it into your throat and chest.Don t forget the wonderful, healthy benefit of using Basil essential oil in your cooking, marinades or spaghetti sauces! "I received this product for free or at a reduced price in exchange for my honest feedback.5Five StarsGreat thanks for the good item.5Great oil with a strong scent and multiple uses!Wonderful spicy scent. This basil comes shrink wrapped in plastic, so if it leaks, it's not going to get on anything else just in case it might leak, which I don't foresee happening. My only complaint is that the bottle does not state what kind of basil oil is in the bottle (chemotype). It says Ocimum basilicum, but it does not say whether it is ct estragole, ct linalool, or ct methyl cinnamate, which can be important depending upon how you plan on using the oil. Besides that, This is a nice oil, with a strong, long lasting scent. It also has worked for me in multiple uses.Basil oil is a good energizing oil. When I got home from work this weekend, I had a terrible headache. I took some Tylenol and put this in my diffuser. It filled the room up with a sweet and spicy scent, that was amazing. It doesn't smell like food, or make me hungry, like I thought it would. My headache did go away, and I was in a much better mood (which wasn't the Tylenol!). Another option, for headaches, is to rub the oil into your temples, or the base of your neck. You won't regret it!This is a great oil to put in some lotion, or a carrier oil, and rub on your muscles after a workout, or to keep in your purse for some afternoon energy. It smells great with lemon too! Wonderful mixture to have in your diffuser to turn on and wake you up in the mornings. It can also work for coughing, sort of like Vicks. Rub it on the individuals chest (diluted with a carrier oil) to assist with breathing. If you haven't used the oil before, I would test a small area of the skin first to ensure there are no irritations.Another good use is for hair growth. Mixing some basil and peppermint oil (both in the mint family) in your shampoo can help keep your scalp healthy, and stimulate hair growth. There are multiple recipes online if your are interested in that use!I received this oil at a discount in exchange for my honest, unbiased review. All thoughts and opinions are of my own and are not swayed by outside entities. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I'll do my best to answer!4Spicy goodness.I use fresh basil in my kitchen on a regular basis and keep a pot of basil growing all the time. Because I eat fresh basil I assumed the oil would also smell like my plant. However, I found that it smells more like cloves to me. Upon research I found that sweet basil is used to make the oil so that could be the difference my nose is picking up on.Information includes:Sweet basil oil has diaphoretic, stimulant, carminative, and expectorant properties. It is effective in revitalizing dull hair and skin, and is also used in treating acne and skin infections. Sweet basil oil also offers health benefits for your:-Digestive system. Due to its carminative properties, basil oil helps reduce indigestion, constipation, stomach cramps, and flatulence. It helps expel gas from your stomach and intestine.-Immune system. The herbal oil works great in treating sinus congestion, asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema. It also helps effectively cure infections in wounds or cuts.-Nervous system. Sweet basil oil is known to alleviate mental fatigue, migraine, and depression. It is commonly used in aromatherapy for its calming effect. Basil oil clears the mind and provides mental strength.Applying a few drops of sweet basil oil to strained muscles can alleviate the pain. You can rub two to three drops of the essential oil on your forehead to promote alertness. Add sweet basil oil to your shampoo to reduce excessive hair oiliness.Receiving a massage using this oil may help stimulate blood flow and soothe muscle pain and spasms. It was because of this information that I asked my massage therapist to use it on my low back since I suffer from muscle spasms & pain. I'm so grateful that she agreed because the relief I felt was much deeper and longer than usual.Sweet basil oil can be added to baths when combined with other essential oils such as jojoba, sweet almond, or avocado oil. The herbal oil can also be inhaled using a diffuser or vaporizer. For now I am keeping my little bottle of basil oil for massage use only. We added about 10 drops of it to a 1/2 tsp of jojoba oil.5
