It hurts me to check 5 stars for value for money but it's the best you can do.I've looked for alternatives and can't find any. It's what Dr.'s recommend. You could use hand cream if all you need is cleanliness, but I don't think you get as much relieve if you have real issues. 5worth the moneyRecommend by my doctor. It is the absolute best product for its intended use and for those who need it. Please note, if the skin is already too abraded, a sitz bath and water is the only thing that should be used -- Never use any soaps or cleansing solutions in this situation. I am writing this review base on my first hand experience as someone without a colon anymore and never-ending bowel problems. I see from the other reviews that a number of people also use it for hemorrhoids -- that makes sense, it's just not my problem.I use this lotion when I am soiled and sore from leakage or a full accident by simply putting some of this on toilet tissue. (If there is a lot of material, remove that first.) It will softly remove any remaining material from the sore area and prevent the tissue from pulling at or abrading the delicate skin. It will also leave behind a little of the lotion -- do not try to clean it all off, this is also good for the skin in that area. Just make sure that most of the soiled matter is removed. There is something in this lotion that also help to neutralize the stinging/burning that is left behind and it works great! if you have sore skin and frequent diarrhea get this and a tube of Calmoseptine Ointment right away and get feeling better fast! 5Only those people that have hemorrhoids know what real pain is, this product worksThere are only two products for hemorrhoids that I have found that work reasonably well. The issue I have with this product is that it is expensive and it is somewhat difficult to apply. The other product works well but is almost impossible to apply. 5A Must HaveI'm a repeat buyer many times over many decades. This is the best perianal cleanser you can buy. A small dab (smaller than a dime) on your toilet paper to clean inflamed hemorrhoids or vaginal tissue, brings relief to a touchy situation. Trust me on this folks, it's worth the investment. My mother came home from a skilled nursing facility and had a bad rash, and was very sore from lack of adequate care from the facility. Balneol instantly relieves any pain or itching that you may have, soothes the skin, and begins healing immediately. We have used this product for years, and highly recommend it. Unfortunately when I ordered it from Amazon they were packaged in a ziplock bag in sets of three. The cream did leak out of the bottles, and we're all over the bags, so some of the product was lost. 5Good product unwisely packed, leaked all over the package.I have used Balneol for many years. These three bottles we stuffed in a padded envelope with a small amount of bubble wrap. The bottle caps were partially unscrewed and a significant amount of Balneol was all over the package. I ordered three bottles of this and all 3 leaked because the lids were all lose and they were packaged in a soft package instead of a box. The package looked like it had been run over. It is not worth my time and effort to return them. Its a shame Amazon does not have someone you can call to complain about this. If I return then I don't have the product I need. Guess I will order from Walgreens or Walmart next time. This one did not. 3Very soothingYears ago, the GI doctor, who I see, recommended Balneol Lotion. I was having very uncomfortable irritation from hemorrhoid issues and also, irritation in the perianal area. At that time, I was able to get it from my local pharmacy, and I found it to be so soothing and it really helped with the discomfort that I keep having. Don't be deceived by the size of the bottle because a little goes a long way. My local pharmacy didn't carry it anymore. I found it at another pharmacy, but it was a little pricey. After checking on Amazon, I was able to find it at a lower price. Also, I found Balneol not only in the plastic bottle, but it was available in take along packets which I also ordered. You won't be sorry ordering Balneol because relief is on it's way. Also, it's not greasy either!5JUST TRY IT ONCE AND YOU WILL ORDER MOREI had never heard or used this product before I tried it. Very soothing to delicate areas and for good personal hygiene. A small drop is all that is needed. I apply it directly to the paper. No rinsing is necessary. It is not irritating to the skin, nor does it have a strong scent. It seems expensive, but only a small amount is used at a time. Some drug stores do offer their generic brand, about $4 cheaper per bottle.5
